Well,
I think very few SF fans are "surprised" it lost, per se. Most Oracle
pickers who chose the Fighters predicted it would be close. And a lot of
us haven't gone on the record as saying "Oh man this is one of the best
rivalries ever" when talking about Ryu/Ken. We like Street Fighter. We want it to do well. Fighting game fans are passionate people. Pokemon fans are passionate people. Match LII: (1) Samus Aran/Ridley vs. (7) Big Boss/The Boss Previous Round Samus Aran/Ridley – 60.79% Terra Branford/Kefka Palazzo – 39.21% Chris Redfield/Albert Wesker – 43.40% Big Boss/The Boss – 56.60% Analysis I’m not the first person and probably not the last to say this, but Samus and Ridley’s performance in the previous round was pretty bad and to a lot of people it isn’t a matter of if Samus and Ridley are going to lose early, but when. Big Boss and The Boss did well showing off their strength and was able to defeat Tidus and Jecht in a similar fashion to what Samus and Ridley did to Terra and Kefka which has given a few people the belief that Big Boss and The Boss have a chance at an upset. The big support towards Samus and Ridley is that they faced Terra and Kefka with sprite pictures which could give them a boost in strength like it did to Kefka in the villains contest. Of course some people debate whether Kefka got a boost in the first place, but since that match Dissidia had been released which could give fans knowledge of his clown form, likewise with Terra in a 3D model so a boost in strength due to the usage of sprites could also had been minimal. Most people find a Tidus/Jecht and a Terra/Kefka match to be debatable, but there is the option that the Final Fantasy X pair is weaker in this format as I find it hard to believe that Chris and Wesker are that close to Samus and Ridley should Big Boss and The Boss win given that Resident Evil didn’t exactly perform that well. Sure Chris and Wesker may be the strongest from that series, but I don’t see them being that much stronger. With that said I don’t see Samus and Ridley getting a free ride this round. Big Boss was able to get 37% on Mario in the previous contest adding the rivalry advantage that they have Big Boss and The Boss should have no problem clearing 40% and are likely to break 45% as well. will make for a pretty weird atmosphere if this is the match that
churns out a surprise winner and destroys all the perfect battlers. It's
kinda like that FFX/Melee match from 2004 where you know it's good, but

I would probably still take Ryu/Ken over Samus Ridley. Their performances on Terra/Kefka and Fox/Wolf seem very similar. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

today's match will break 58000 votes, which will be about 2000 higher
than Link's match in round 2. Pretty good votals today, but it does
leave a sign of concern that the Link/Cloud match might not even reach
