Well
anyway, massive props to everyone who had Red/Blue going deep in the
contest. If you have them making the semis, you're in great shape to win
a prize; and if you have them making the final, that's perhaps even

Not
the same! Red/Blue winning matches they're supposed to doesn't really

Trainers = Charizard's strength. Samus will lose (bad anchor syndrome, although last year Samus v. Charizard might've been close) but Mario will beat them. Also, no way the Bosses beat Samus tomorrow. --- http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=5364544 |

Hmmm...if
being the stand-in for your game/series matters to such an extent,
could Mario/Bowser's shot at winning the contest increase? SMB would
actually have a good shot at winning the Series Contest if we had it

My
first instinct when I saw the bracket was to take the trainers all the
way to the semis...then I rushed it the night before and took Bosses

will say, however, that MWC's stinging words carry truth that even the
haters must acknowledge. Red and Blue are rivals. They were created to

This
team looks strong enough that I'm kind of worried about the final
actually. If the first semifinal is Pokemon upsetting Mario, and the
second is Cloud beating Link, I imagine Pokemon will be out in full
bandwagon force on the day of the final. The thing that makes me scared is: how much stronger is Link really than Samus? 58/42? He has a better rivalry and rivalry matters a huge amount in this contest, but if Samus is going to be begging for this mid-60s percentage next round, Link ought to show some fear. Over Zelda? I doubt that. SMB would have only lost 54/46 at worst in the midst of Twilight Princess hype, and when it was almost a dead series. still think we're going to see Mario beat the Trainers, he is going to

I don't think Mario Galaxy 1/2 and NSMB do much to flip that result.
Zelda still takes precedence over Mario within the Nintendo fanbase, and
TP+SS is a bigger combo than all the Mario games that have since

Congratulations
to everyone else who wasn't blinded by past stats and realized this was
going to happen from day 1. Common sense once again prevails. The
Red/Blue rivalry is a completely different entrant to Red by himself, or
even Charizard. Anyone who was still backing the Fighters after rivalry
factor was confirmed was deluded. Nothing says rivalry like Pokemon. I expected around 60/40 here, although the amount of support they're getting make me scared of a late contest rally where they could possibly take down Mario. Nothing says rivalry like Ryu/Ken either, seeing as how its one of the most iconic rivalries in gaming history. Ryu/Ken would win this contest if this site had taste. It's by far the best rivalry in the bracket when you weigh exposure in. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

But some rivals do standout enough to break the stats (looks at this match), and cloud/sephiroth is as gaming iconic in that category as they come.
