Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated. --- "So cold. Because it seems from my reading the last topic that everybody decided "everybody will be doing Charizard/Blastoise, I'll leave them out of my pic" and there is relatively lower pic-smithing this year. couldn't post yesterday as i run out of messages but why was Black
Turtle so CONVINCED that Fighters would beat Trainers? It's like those
guys who were CONVINCED Pokemon woul beat MM. There is no clear
favourite. Peopel talk about the Rivalry factor. Ryu/ken is iconic yes but Pokemon Trainers is also iconic but in a different sense. Red/Blue doesn't just show rivalry between the characters in that specific game...they show the rivalry between 2 pokemon trainers...the original pokemon trainer rivalry. They symbolize the rivalry for each of the latter pokemon games. They show the rivlary between Gary and Ash. all these things have an influence. Red/Blue is iconic to many MANY people and with the pokemon fanbase, it's going to get huge backing. Fighitng games have done piss poor on this site anyway. Those are my 2 cents. I'm
flipping it based on the pic. I've tried everything I can to convince
myself that 77% on Raynor/Kerrigan is something Ryu/Ken couldn't
manage... and I've failed. I'd be surprised if Fox/Wolf couldn't get
close to a doubling on them. Yet, even allowing for 10 points of SFF
against the Luigis, that performance was insane. I can only imagine that
the Trainers pick up a significant boost from Charizard/Blastoise being
in the pic, so if they show up again, I'll back them. If not, probably

Oh wow, this is actually kinda close. I kinda had a feeling X/Zero would look bad here but forgot to lower my oracle, oops. Not sure how much of this is Sub/Scorp being strong and how much is just X/Zero not being that great. I can't put much stock into beating up Black Shadow and FFV, and honestly I don't see DK.Rool being that great. X/Zero probably do respectably on Mariowser next round, but I don't think this is necessarily a good sign for the fighters tomorrow, especially if you're like me and would take the trainers over X/Zero. --- Fight like dragons, have no fear, swords are made of STEEEEEEEEL~ |

are just dying at this point right now. They are doing worse now than
they were during the dead zone and early morning vote (about 5-8 AM).
At least during the dead zone and early morning vote, they were still
increasing their lead. But now, the ninjas are making a serious attempt
to cut into the lead. I probably expect this to continue until the ASV

This is another example of people overblowing something (R/B/Y's and Charizard's performance in this case) and completely ignoring common sense. Red/Blue probably wouldn't be in the contest if it wasn't for board 8. The fact of the matter, is that we saw Red before and he sucked. Sure together they are stronger than before, but I can't see this even being close enough to threaten the upset. Fighters win with at least 53%. --- Game of the Decade?
