If
we had a fictional characters contest, people would probably manage to
nominate all MLP characters as 1-seeds and they would trample all over

KH
has really fallen from grace, one would imagine given Riku and Vergils
respective strengths that the format is benefiting Sora more than Dante

lol non video game character on a video game character site. If you
guys want the contests to be cancelled just say so and quit with the
elaborate plots to destroy interest. Either way it'd be cool if the
Batman talk was taken to another thread, kinda lame on the best match of
the contest that the stats topic is talking about comic books and Harry

Clearly
interest in the contest is fine as is, with an all time low for
brackets and voting even less than it was in 2002's round 1. --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
The
problem here, Smurf, is that the best match of the contest falls right
into very formulaic trends that are backed up by years of evidence.
Everyone in here expects Sora to come roaring back with the day vote and
put it away. If Dante somehow bucks the trend and is leading in five
hours, then there will be plenty of discussion, and it'll all be toward

If 90s VG > 2000s VG can be applied to anime as well, I think Kenshin, Guts, Spiegel, and Rei/Asuka could end up being formidable. Can't think of other characters that would challenge midcarders like Dante and Sora, though. Maybe L. Real old school guys like Goku would probably get the Pac-Man & DK treatment. |

I'm
one of those evil casual X-Men fans, whose knowledge of the series
comes entirely from movies, X-Men Evolution and video games. Favourite
characters: Wolverine, Xavier, Rogue, Storm, Magneto. Gambit is okay. I
have a feeling that beyond Wolverine, Xavier and Magneto, there's
probably a little strength there, but there'd be a huge struggle for
noms. What's a cool other fictional rivalry that we could lobby to have the winning rivalry of this contest up against? --- Praise the Black Turtle, Game of the Decade Guru Champ. (Well, I never promised creativity, did I?!) |

You are really just being absurd now. As I've said many times before - the 64th strongest disallowed fictional character would crush the 64th strongest allowed VG character. Just crush them. Fictional characters have faaar more depth. I mean that's not even debatable, the field of characters who are disallowed absolutely dwarfs the "originated in a VG" character field. I personally like the 32/32 split and having every 1st round match involve VG vs. fictional. I was half kidding about Hayabusa (I like him as well) but I still think 7 or 8 fictionals as a trial basis would be the better way to go. It wouldn't hurt seeing Guybrush not make the bracket for once, and it would still be the most uncertain contest since the first one. I just think some people will have big problems with fictional characters eating up spots that would've gone to e.g., Scorpion. |

brilliant (Batman/Joker, not the other one >_>). Batman/Joker
would be an insanely formidable team, and we should start pestering
Bacon to get on that for our bonus poll yesterday. It's a much cooler

actually planned on having a Link/Batman bonus poll at the end of our
last Character Battle, but the final match happened on a weekend, so
Bacon never saw the petition on Board 8 as he never logged in once

Dante
vs Yoshi is a good indicator of how Dante holds up against strong day
votes. The beginning of the poll was the toughest part for him there,
and it should be here too-- throw in the day vote being diluted (pretty
sure he fought Yoshi on a weekday) and there's a slim possibility that
Dante can win this. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
If
you take out the first two hours, which could be potentially be largely
bracket voting based on the wild trend difference. Dante has won the
other 5 hours 4587 - 4293, nearly 300 votes. Have to remember bracket
voting is affecting low votal matches much more than it would have on
the trends we're basing our expectations on. Those dead hours for Sora
before Europe woke up were bizarrely unerwhelming as to what you'd
expect, particularly on a weekend night, if Dante did pull a 300-400

Seriously
Sora/Riku are getting votes based on KH fanbase alone. I'm pretty sure
every neutral vote is going to Dante/Virgil. The DMC fanbase is tiny
compared to KH on this site. Either way I have KH in my bracket but DAnte in my battle pick. I want Dante to twin because I can't stand KH it's a vastly overrated franchise and those characters suck.
