Speaking of geography, Canada supports Frog/Magus, but California supports Chell/GlaDOS, sound familiar? --- http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh293/zukiraphaera/war-sig-1.png http://i.imgur.com/FII1z.gif |
Huh, Frog/Magus is doing worse in the US than worldwide right now. Guess Canada is really giving them a major boost here. --- 2002 Link, 2003 Cloud, 2004 Link, 2005 Link, 2006 Link, 2008 Link, 2010 Link, 2011 Cloud. Link 6, Cloud 2 |
I
also notice that Frog/Magus are starting to fall apart earlier than
they normally would. Usually CT dies after 4 AM, but they started
getting stalled on a fairly regular basis as early as 2:30 AM. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Also,
I love the new Europe map. The matches this year have all been not
close, so I haven't really looked too much at the maps. But the new
European map is a big improvement, and I like what I see on it right
now. Portal Eurozone countries: Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Spain CT Eurozone countries: Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria Vote for CT for fiscal responsibility!
Probably because Portal is also a strong night game. The collapse after 4 AM tonight is probably going to be pretty small though. Portal is only at 53% in Europe and CT has 55% in Asia. --- 2002 Link, 2003 Cloud, 2004 Link, 2005 Link, 2006 Link, 2008 Link, 2010 Link, 2011 Cloud. Link 6, Cloud 2 |
Good
thing Chell/GlaDOS doesn't have a morning vote close to what Sonic has,
so that might be one plus in Frog/Magus's favor. Chell/GlaDOS is only
at 65% in the UK, while Sonic/Crono would have definitely been above 75%
there. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
The
UK makes up 40% of Europe's votes, right? So that means Frog/Magus are
getting 55% over the rest of Europe, which is more than in North
America. I wonder why the rest of Europe seems to like CT.......it
wasn't released in those countries either, was it? --- 2002 Link, 2003 Cloud, 2004 Link, 2005 Link, 2006 Link, 2008 Link, 2010 Link, 2011 Cloud. Link 6, Cloud 2 |
About 40% sounds right for the UK. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Well France probably thinks Frog is delicious. --- http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh293/zukiraphaera/war-sig-1.png http://i.imgur.com/FII1z.gif |
Well France probably thinks Frog is delicious. I don't know why but that was hilarious. :D |
For
our first remotely close match of the year, the Electoral College
returns. Because we all know the popular vote is rubbish and the vote
that really expresses the true will of the people is that of the
Electoral College. Frog/Magus 337 Chell/GlaDOS 201 --- 2002 Link, 2003 Cloud, 2004 Link, 2005 Link, 2006 Link, 2008 Link, 2010 Link, 2011 Cloud. Link 6, Cloud 2 |

I wonder why the rest of Europe seems to like CT.......it wasn't released in those countries either, was it? How do other RPG's generally do in the UK? It's never seemed like a popular genre to me. I know all my friends think I'm weird for liking RPG's, especially non-western RPG's. --- Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time |
This is Frog/Magus's highest lead of the match so far. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
New Square tends to do very well in the UK. FFVII and FFX are beastly with the dead zone. --- 2002 Link, 2003 Cloud, 2004 Link, 2005 Link, 2006 Link, 2008 Link, 2010 Link, 2011 Cloud. Link 6, Cloud 2 |
Other
RPGs are strong in the UK, especially FFVII and FFVIII. As for Western
RPGs, Mass Effect does above average in the UK and Dragon Age is just
average there. The Elder Scrolls is very strong in the UK. CT being so weak in the UK is a rare exception here. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
I
think Final Fantasy may be an exception though. Are there any jRPG's
that aren't Final Fantasy that are stronger in the UK than elsewhere? --- Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time |
Of
course it may just be me having weird friends. I do have friends who
like RPG's but I met them all via the internet and generally as a result
of a videogame forum or from playing FFXI so stands to reason they
would be more likely to be RPG fans. Anyone I know from work or school doesn't like RPG's unless it's Fallout / Elder Scrolls / Mass Effect. Or if it's older then BG, Planescape, older Fallout, etc. Basically Western. --- Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time |
Frog/Magus are starting to do better as of the last few updates. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Well,
both of my brackets are boned. I'm still perfect on my contest
bracket, and I haven't gotten a pick wrong in the battle, but... I already know I'm going to lose two matches in round 3, and I banked on Kirby/Sonic, so even if all 100+ perfects blow it, there are still four people with more banked points than me. --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
holy crap, I just noticed I'm 39th on the leader board >.> Well, that'll be nice for a few rounds anyway. --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
I
banked on this match anyway. I kinda forgot about the battle challenge
until several matches in. Figured the chances of all the perfects
dropping the ball were slim so banked to ensure I beat Bacon. --- Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time |

I'm
certain that we will see classic Chrono Trigger trends here. They will
build up a nice lead, then lose it all, then perform a miracle and
comeback in the final hour. --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. Black Turtle > Me |
These wimpy cuts are not going to be enough to get the victory for Portal, assuming they stink up the ASV. --- KingBartz: Bracket is 49/54 with today's pick being Chell/GlaDOS |
That was that comeback. --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. Black Turtle > Me |
61.68% update there for Portal here we go Frog fell asleep it seems. --- KingBartz: Bracket is 49/54 with today's pick being Chell/GlaDOS |
44 votes cut in 2 updates. --- Matchtiem? |
Uh
oh, here come the big updates from Chell/GlaDOS. I'm just hoping that
was a small hiccup and Frog/Magus will rebound again. I'll be satisfied
if Frog/Magus can enter the DSV time period with at least a lead of 500
or more, so they can continue to build up their lead before the ASV
kicks in. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
It
is pretty weird that Frog/Magus are winning in the parts of Europe that
aren't the UK. It's not like we got the game in mainland Europe. Maybe
emulation is bigger here. Or maybe it's because of the UK's bias towards
the Genesis, as opposed to the rest of Europe where the SNES was far
ahead of it. --- I think someone is being way, way too sensitive. Do we have to stop saying "You got owned" in order to not offend black people due to slavery? - wg64Z |
i hope chell/glados pull this off :) it'll make me happy about picking an upset that actually goes through. i also have them winning next round, which will never happen ,but at least there might be a chance to see it --- -_-...-_- ...-_-... Bera:12x Ice/Lit Mage |
Finally a close match! We had to wait only the entire first round and half of the second round!Well at least we had one... --- GameFaqs is NOT the place to go for relationship advice.Nobody here gets any action unless it is their right or left hand.Including me.~Dawn and Dusk~ |

Or maybe it's because of the UK's bias towards the Genesis, as opposed to the rest of Europe where the SNES was far ahead of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the UK's "bias" towards the Genesis due to the Master System outselling the NES by a 3 to 1 ratio there or something? As far as Magus is concerned, I personally believe that he overperforms whenever his sprite shows up - I remember playing CT for the first time earlier this year and I was surprised by how much better he looked in sprite form. He looks horrid in concept art. Kinda cool how Frog/Magus ends up being such a cool rivalry despite being in a game that isn't too characterization-focused. But...that's Chrono Trigger in a nutshell for ya! That analysis on how "ensemble casts" overperform in this format was excellent and I completely agree. "Terra vs. Kefka" definitely represents FFVI better than either one of them does on their own, at least. --- Currently Playing - StarCraft: Brood War |
interesting
stuff. if memory serves, this is CT's worst time - even the day vote is
better than this. meanwhile, this is one of Portal's best times. I
think Frog/Magus are the favourite even with them losing votes and the
day vote looming. anyone have one of Leon's more recent 24 hour charts for some CT stuff? --- xyzzy |
This isn't exactly what you're hoping for, but here's the graph of Samus/Crono/Vincent/Pikachu in 2008. http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/images/poll_graph.php?matchnum=3301&type=1&seconds=60&max=0 So basically, unless Portal can manage a Pokemon-esque ASV, this'll be the worst time for Frog/Magus. --- http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh293/zukiraphaera/war-sig-1.png http://i.imgur.com/FII1z.gif |

Frog will still win this. IT has a massive lead in North America. Europe alone won't be enough for Glados. *listens to Frogs Theme* --- http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5716/linkpron.gif |
Very
impressive, Frog/Magus are actually holding on during this time period.
I am feeling a bit better about the CT duo winning this match. The
ASV is the only thing that I am concerned about for this match. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
We finally get a close match. This contest has been abysmal up until this point. Will be better R3 though. --- http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5716/linkpron.gif |

I'd love for Portal to win. I need those brackets to burn. --- http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr345/Rakaputra/pjbasis.png |
While
I generally don't care about so called factors, Frog may be getting
extra votes since he's recently been introduced to players who are
experiencing Chrono Trigger for the first time through Giant Bombs
Endurance Run which just started. --- XBL / PSN: lol im ahkmed |

interesting match after so long...When I first checked the results the
lead was around 800 votes. Now it is around 500 votes. Also the winner of
