should beat Santa on any day of the year. He's a vastly superior
character. I mean, come on, Santa's probably not even in the top 10 of
non-VG fictional characters. Probably not even close to top 10. He
still performed like a Noble Niner on Link. If he had done any better,
I'd be terrified for Link against some of the stronger non-VG

From: charmander6000 | #402 No, he's not like Mario. Mario underperforms due to lack of badass character appeal (Mickey Mouse would probably be closest parallel the Mario of fictional characters). Batman oozes character appeal more than any character like, ever. The public gobbles him up. Hell, based on the Arkham game alone with absolutely no prior existence he'd probably be a low midcarder or higher based on character design. And yet the Arkham game would mean nothing to his actual strength because he's on such a higher level that it hardly qualifies as a a drop in the bucket. I do believe he used to be weaker, and that Samus could well have won directly the year Shadow got 45% on Mario - people forget how much weaker Mario was before "the shift". think Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Buzz Lightyear, and Jack Sparrow would
probably be tops for Disney. I doubt Aladdin or Simba would be as
popular as their movies would suggest - they might be outclassed by

From: red sox 777 | #508 Agreed, no way in hell is Santa even on Christmas is top 10 fictional characters. Let's be real - Cloud isn't far from Link in relative terms, at all. Could anyone here have any confidence whatsoever that Cloud beats Batman? And there's a very small leap from beating Cloud to beating Link. In the end it's about statistics. The great majority of potential characters are *not allowed* due to CJayC's technicality. It's a sheer population/statistics issue. Without a shadow of a doubt, the disallowed characters have much, much more depth of strength than what the VG characters we've seen have. Again - the 64th strongest disallowed character trounces the 64th strongest VG character. Completely destroys them. And these things work on power distributions. 80/20 rule and all that, the rich gobble up the wealth. When you increase the population, you get more outliers. Relative to the median income, the richest person today is richer than the richest person when the population was a 500 million people rather than 7 billion. Even if the shape of the distribution is unchanged. Since we know that the disallowed characters have more depth, it's not a far step to say they'd have more guys at the top level as well, and that the strongest disallowed outlier (Batman, presumably) would be stronger than the strongest VG outlier (Link). --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

Mickey, Donald, Goofy just don't have that badass factor, they aren't fighters. And I'd looove for Buzz to be strong (freakin' love Buzz) but I wouldn't have confidence in him doing anything. Not sure about Genie>Aladdin, but I think Mufasa could beat Simba. Kind of a Tidus/Jecht relationship there. Simba is pretty whiny. about Kingdom Hearts since I never got very far, maybe that does
something for him, but I doubt Mickey would be especially strong without

could be bias talking, but I think Ariel could be pretty close to the
top for Disney characters. She does the emotional attachment thing very

for Jack Sparrow, he's too........weird, for lack of a better term.
You need to appear more mainstream, less niche, than that to venture
into the elite ranks on this site. Doesn't matter if his movies are

Ariel would be one of the strongest on any site with a more even male/female distribution and would probably be the strongest on any site that's as overwhelmingly young female as this one is young male. If Jack Sparrow got consistent material for decades (he won't, obviously) then we'd be talking an elite character. Plus Jack Sparrow isn't the nominal character for his series. It was more an ensemble cast thing. As is, like I said, I see him as high midcard or slightly lower than that. Like, for instance, I'd have no real idea who'd win a Jack Sparrow vs. Aeris match. I mean how do you even analyze that. Which of course would be the cool thing - the endless debate due to half the bracket being complete unknowns. Plus, we'd have more good matches. Currently the strength distribution is so damn skewed. know, intuitively you'd think that the non-VG fictional character field
should be a lot stronger, but looking at those lists, I think the VG
characters actually stack up pretty well. Though those probably aren't
the 9 strongest non-VG characters, but still. Link does need a

in 2003, Goku probably would have been one of the strongest characters
on the site. Now, he's probably far weaker. I tried to watch some
Dragonball Z after about a 10 year gap, and it was unbelievably awful. I

Match XLIII: (1) Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth vs. (4) Alucard/Dracula Previous Round Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth – 56.56% Gordon Freeman/Dr. Breen – 43.44% Alucard/Dracula – 63.23% Commander Shepard/Saren Arterius – 36.77% Analysis Back to the ever exciting southwest division, some people feel that this match may be close, but most feel that it should be an easy win for the vampire duo, but with so few close matches this match could end up being among the closest so far. Phoenix and Edgeworth did well together teaming up to put impressive numbers against Freeman who while almost fighting on his own was considered to be stronger than the lawyers. However the performance was not impressive enough to challenge Alucard and Dracula where I would expect Alucard to win by more against Freeman in a one on one match. Sure you could argue that this format is different, but Alucard had no problems beating an equally terrible rivalry in Shepard and Saren and I feel Shepard would have a decent chance against Freeman in a match. This match will better showcase Dracula and the rivalry between him and Alucard. Dracula will obviously add more strength to the poll than Edgeworth and even though the lawyers probably have a stronger rivalry it won’t be enough to make up the gap.
