http://nintendo3dsblog.com/the-pokemon-company-has-a-big-surprise-for-jump-festa Ok, so apparently the Pokemon Company is making a big announcement at some Japanese games festival (17-18 November), and it's going to be a massive surprise. If I'm counting correctly, the festival starts (in Japan) on the same day as the theoretical Trainers vs Mario match. They're
definitely stronger as a duo, considering Samus/Ridley is putting up
numbers comparable to what Bowser put up on Kefka and Squall put up on
Terra 1-on-1. How much stronger is anyone's guess, but people seem to

still think this bodes pretty badly for Samus. Like I was saying
earlier in the day, Ridley strikes me as a weak link and other than
Crono, Samus is probably going to turn out to be the weakest of the NN
in this contest from the looks of it. --- :> |
I'll
reserve judgment until after this is over, but if Samus manages to
finish at 63% I'll still feel pretty good about her over Bosses and
Fighters with Trainers sitting as an unknown. Not as good as I did going
into the match expecting/hoping for a doubling, but the fun of this is
that this feels like my first contest again in that we really have no
idea how strong these duos are. People thought 'well Kirby/MetaKnight is
WAY better than Sonic/Robotnik', and who knows, Terra/Kefka could be
well above either alone, or maybe since Wolf isn't in Smash until Brawl
he drags Fox down to crappier levels. Whichever of the four you took
there's still a perfectly fine argument as to why you're right, but you

dunno about RIVALRY, but I think both Terra and Kefka being (somewhat)
popular in their own right is helping them look good here. It's not like
we have a chump villain like Golbez or Seymour accompanying a decent

Funny thing is that Samus/Ridley is probably the better rivalry today
anyway. I can't even remember if there was any dialogue between Terra

I think Terra has been solidified at this point (Square did so itself with Dissidia) but Celes definitely had the more personal link to him. Not to sell Terra short either however, there's still some connection there.
