I
originally had Ken doing a Shoryuken but it was too big to fit in the
pic. Shame, because I liked the idea of Ken doing a Shoryuken in
response to a Hadoken. It seemed like a good representation of Ken
players. I still like that they've both Hadoken'd one second into the match, though. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

totals are doing a little bad today, but I'll probably blame it on
Thanksgiving being today. Only 4499 votes after the first hour, when
all of the other 24 hour matches before today had at least 4650 or

Lv77 is the level of Red's Charizard in GSC. Ignoring the fact that Charizard and Blastoise are an inherent part of their rivalry, who cares? I'm not in this to get a precise and accurate estimate of the strength of the characters with an n<0.05 and a statistically significant sample size. I like contest stats, but I like them because of what they're relevant to. Knowing Laharl's true strength isn't something I really care about. Yeah the Zard/Blastoise thing is a totally legit point, anyone who says otherwise is being pretty silly. Charizard and Blastoise are not Red and Blue, they are way stronger than Red/Blue (so not a sidekick/accessory situation), they shouldn't be permitted here. It's unfair. Not exactly a debatable thing, it's as straightforward as it gets. But it will happen - and in all likelihood, it probably will change the result to a Trainer victory - so we will have to deal with it. At the least we know it increases the Trainers chances a ton. Charizard and Blastiose are an inherent parts to their respective game, because they are mascots to the game of Red and Blue, not necessarily to the characters Red and Blue. I mean I think people are excluding Venusaur for a reason, he doesn't draw in people like Charizard of Blastiose, when if you are going to make the arguement that Charizard and Blastiose are inherent to the rivalry, so should Venusaur. --- - |

How about Naked Snake in all of The Boss's match pics? How about LINK IN TINGLE'S. Once I found out that SBAllen was open to the idea of Charizard and Blastoise pictures for the trainers, I gave them two more wins in my bracket. Honestly
I don't think people would vote for Red/Blue because of Zard/Toise
thrown in there any more than they would have voted for them with any
other great nostalgia pic. Give them the first round pic vs. the one KP
just posted and I think the change is very minimal, nothing that
couldn't be attributed to just random variance in people coming

things have looked bad, while old has tended to look good. And I just

don't think it'll matter too much either way, unless the match ends up
being close enough where something like the picture could end up
changing the result. It's clear that Charizard and Blastoise aren't
actually part of the rivalry, and they're there because human Pokemon
characters aren't all that popular and the actual Pokemon are, but what
can you do. It's nothing to get worked up over, because it should always
be assumed that people are going to try to stick the actual Pokemon
into matches with Red or Blue or whoever. --- peace comes from within |

this talk about not having Blastoise and Charizard in the Pokemon pic
is almost compelling me to come up with something that has no Pokemon in

I'm
actually hoping they get as many Charizard/Blastoise pics as possible
because I changed my bracket accordingly. Bacon let us know about it a
couple hours before lockdown, and I'm sure at least a few others pushed
the Trainers a bit further in their brackets as a result. If I had (logically) assumed Red/Blue would only get Red/Blue pics, put Street Fighter in my bracket, and then watched Red/Blue win with 52% on the backs of a buncha Pokemon pictures, I'd probably be in a pissy mood. If
it ends up being a 52/48 sort of match, and Red/Blue win, then I think
that's when we can start talking about Charizard and Blastoise giving
the Pokekids an edge. As it is now, though, I don't see anything to
worry about, as far as their inclusion in the picture goes. KP's picture
is nice for both sides, though we all know where he falls there! Still,
the Street Fighter picture is classic -- and I think it looks great --
so it's hard to complain too much. Means a lot more to me than Pokemonz,
