Capcom's
rivalries tend to spread out over multiple games so they tend to at
least have been semi-relevant to most generations, plus the Capcom
crossover fighting games can get some lesser-known characters a level of

Also of trivial note: Nintendo and Square will only have 7-8 slots in the Sweet 16 (Mario/Bowser, Trainers, Metroid, Link/Some guy, Clouderoth, Twin Scars, Frog/Magus, and maybe Sora/Riku). Anyway, my theory is that this was Bacon's intent with the bracket; to break up the Nintendo/Square overload once the fodder is gone and let Capcom and Konami have some shine (but not some SHINE). So an expected result today for the SF duo. Respectable show by Fox/Wolf. I think that the Trainers will be the battle favorites next round. I think it could be a back and forth affair - the Trainers will likely have a massive, massive board vote, but the SF duo might push back overnight. But the daylight might kill their chances. Think it will be a close match though, under 54%. And I think the winner beats Samus, especially if it's the Trainers. If the Trainers advance to Samus they should be even stronger than they were against Ryu/Ken. I still think Ryu/Ken have a very good shot to beat the Trainers - but I have to favor the Trainers slightly now, especially because I fully expect a very biased picture. Having Zard/Blastoise in the pic shouldn't really be allowed, but them being in the picture changes things and gives the Trainers a boost. Breaking it up by era hurt diversity there because Nintendo and Square dominate the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.
