Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. it's just a completely terrible bracket, not a single match that was
even vaguely close. Almost every contest previously had 0 perfect

People
would be excited with a standard character battle if Bacon constructed
the bracket to have as many matches as possible between two high
midcarders, two midcarders, or two low midcarders - or even fodder - of
near equal strength. Even with the noble nine / 1-seeds: put Mega Man
(apparently always a 2-seed) in Sonic's bracket, or Sora's Bracket.
There's still uncertainty between Mega Man, Sonic, Crono, MissingNo.
Might have surprising or close results in fights within the Mario,

From: UltimaterializerX | #018 Not really. Seeding it fairly overrated in these things. It is easy to have close matches between 7-10s and 8-9s and even 6-11s while keeping seeding fairly accurate. I don't think this contest is beyond redemption yet. The later rounds could have some pretty awesome matches. Still though, the next contest needs to be a vanilla character battle. Someone fails at understanding how seeding works. Don't understand what you mean. You can have all kinds of good matches because the nomination process doesn't produce accurate seeding based on strength. If Squall is a 2-seed he could get a good match against another high midcarder if that person is a 7, 10, or 15-seed, as well as a 3-seed who wins his fourpack. Or even a 14, 6, or 11-seed if the 3-seed is a joke like Soap MacTavish. The worst thing is someone strong ending up an 8 or 9 seed because they get wrecking balled in R2; at least the 4-5's have a chance at a good match. --- "Ovelia ...
