I'm
JUST SAYING. It continues to surprise me that no one is debating this -
Ness isn't even much weaker than Alucard, and Shepard is stronger than
GlaDOS, and look where we are. Ezio, Gordon, Shepard - all the recent
western characters are doing poorly. I mean, I've got GlaDOS in my battle and bracket, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ness wins it, and if he does I'm blaming all of you for not making me scared enough to bank. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
Someone
said about 1st seeds.For sure Phoenix is the weakest 1st seed in this
contest and probably in all contests.I mean let us look predictions: Mario:More than 98% Mega Man X:More than 83% Trainers:More than 88% Samus:More than 96% Link:More than 97% Phoenix:Barely above 57%! wouldn't be surprised if Ness puts up a big fight. I don't have much
respect for the Chell part of that rivalry, having only played Portal 1.
I don't even think it's a Western character thing as much as it 'is
this actually a decent rivalry, if you aren't a Portal freak.' Still

I don't have much respect for the Chell part of that rivalry, having only played Portal 1. The rivalry is significantly expanded on in Portal 2. If any 'rivalry boost' happens there, Chell/Glados will win it, although probably not by as much as some people think due to pic/name shortcomings. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

I don't even think it's a Western character thing as much as it 'is this actually a decent rivalry, if you aren't a Portal freak.' Still think Glados wins, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's close! I was thinking about it, and the thing is, if you're familiar with Portal at all, you pretty much know who those two are, even if you don't know who Chell is right away. lot has happened to Portal since we last saw GlaDOS, free Portal and
Portal 2. I would take GlaDOS > Ness this year. Just look the jump
in strength of Portal between the games contest and the game of the

one cares about Chell. I love GlaDOS, love Portal 2, but Chell? She
isn't like Gordon, who gets a ton of storyline significance. She's just a

I think her strength is deceptive. I think she's one of those characters who is ridiculously weak, but once she's placed alongside her rival, boosts to ridiculous levels. This is one of those rivalries where thinking of the game makes you think of the characters, and thinking of the characters makes you think of the game. Chell
is awesome and has fans. I resent the notion that no one cares about
her and am actually significantly offended by it (really and truly).
I've only played P1 and was rooting for Chell the whole way through. As
for the idea that Chell is even more worthless than Saren... good luck

anyone. Sometimes, part of loving a character is recognizing that no one

From: ZFS | #086 I disagree. The rivalry is what this match is, and with two popular games and a growing series in the last four years, Portal has the rivalry edge. Earthbound has never even been re-released. Not even on Virtual Console. seriously, I've noticed that cosplay is actually a reliable metric to
judge the worthlessness of a rival, especially the #2 guy. Rodrigo Borgia Dr. Breen Saren Black Shadow Try finding cosplay. Now try for Zero or Scoprion. Hell, PT Blue has cosplay, and he's competing with BILLIONS OF POKEMON.
