So, uhhhhh.... as grim as the chances of any upsets look, I'd ask you to rank the following matches in terms of upset probability:

Gordon/Breen over Phoenix/Edgy
Shepard/Saren over Alucard/Dracula
Ness/Giygas over Chell/GlaDOS
Crash/NC over Pac/Blinky
Crono/Lavos over the Snakes
BJ/Adolf over Sora/Riku

I'll say, uh:
Ness/Giygas
BJ/Adolf
Gordon/Breen
Shepard/Saren
Crash/NC
Crono/Lavos (least likely)

Really, only the top 3 I can see happening, Ness could get doubled and BJ tripled, for all I know.

Hey there, denizens of the stat topic.

It's been a long time since I've posted in one of these, but I'm still entering contests, and I'm still reading these. =P

I'm one of the current perfect brackets, but we'll see if it stays that way.

Anyway, I'll tier the upsets now...........

Actually Likely
Gordon/Breen
Shepard/Saren

Possible, but not Probable
Ness/Giygas
Crash/Cortex (I went with this upset in bracket, but my battle pick has Pac-Man/Blinky)

Not a chance in Hell, barring a miracle
Crono/Lavos

Why does this bracket suck so bad? 4/5 seed matches should not be blowouts like this.

this contest has lower votes averages, it might be b8 has hit a break point on influence of the winners of these matches though discussion/process, and creating a bandwagoning effect if you will so people are voting to stay on the winning side with their brackets/battles, wouldn't take much for a consistent 10% or so difference which is what we are seeing

I doubt it, there's going to be an upset that will screw the gurus, heck most people are afraid of Samus/Ridley losing early.

Even not if 75% of perfects took Link/Ganondorf to win, 60% took PW > Freeman and 33% took Frog/Magus to win the southwest division (or Alucard/Dracula) we're already down to an estimated 134 perfects.

If the final is Link > Mario and Samus doesn't lose to Kefka, I think we'll wind up with a perfect. There are only so many ways the Samus/Pokemon/Ryu/Bosses gauntlet can go, and I'm sure we still have perfect brackets taking each of the four.

Kefka always gets plenty of bracket support, so we might see a perfect bracket anyway if that happens. =P

Frog/Magus worries me as a team because not only have they been pretty weak in recent contests, but they're one of the few rivalries have neither a game's main hero or villain. Our two most recent examples we've seen are Nook/Redd (doubled by Ammy/Orochi) and Dan/Sagat (80-20'd despite Ryu/Ken's good showing). I don't know how easily they even escape the first round. Yuna/Seymour is a nice example since it's from a similarly-strong Square-RPG, yet Raiden/Vamp already beat them during the vote-ins.

I get Frog/Magus's preferred over Yuna/Seymour and Raiden/Vamp didn't beat them by that much. Still, it's not a good precedent to overcome when CT's already lost quite a few embarrassing matches -- especially because of Magus. CT's one showing so far was when Crono/Lavos won a vote-in, granted, but Leon/Ada and Raynor/Kerrigan from it were later choke-slammed while Gordon/Breen-doubt grows higher every day. I don't think Frog/Magus get too close to Crono/Lavos, either. They also don't have Dissidia to make them look better outside of their feud, so Terra/Kefka isn't very comforting.

Maybe they win the division, but they may struggle one step earlier than many expect too.

Also not a main hero/main villain rivalry, so I'm not sure what your point is!

Frog/Magus will be fine because it's a recognized, respected, and liked rivalry.

Remember, Magus lost to Knuckles, of all things

Losing to Knuckles is bad?

Let's be honest: Do we really think Frog/Magus are that much weaker than Sub-Zero/Scorpion?

They don't have to be very strong to win this division. There are no heavy hitters in it. Alucard and Shepard are the strongest individual characters in it, but they're not very far ahead of Frog or Magus either, I'd wager.

Ignore my above post. I could have sworn Magus lost to Knuckles! (in 2010)

Still, he lost to Alucard, who isn't really the strongest character out there. Plus, Frog lost to Bowser, which is the same case of losing to someone that isn't really that strong, and it's not like the matches were that close, either. These are 60-40 losses we are talking about!
