~*Say What? Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

f*** yeah!

So happy. Would have been horrible to watch FFX s*** on one of my favourite games again after it knocked out RE4 last year. Especially when Bosses were expected to win.

Well my bracket is officially in the *****er. Not even Shepard making it to the Elite Eight can save me now!

Also I think this proves that Square being stronger than usual is a fluke. Tidus/Jecht would have easily stayed within the 40s (as in they would be well in it, not that they would be less than a percent ahead of the 40 mark), unless Big Boss/The Boss are just insanely strong (and by that I mean strong enough to put up a good fight against Link/Ganondorf).

3--------12----------25.00
2--------14----------0.00
1--------13----------7.69

The perfects once again show they are on a slightly higher level than the tiers below them. The -1s to -6s all do roughly equally. Interestingly the -6s (8 points) do better than the -5s who do better than the -4s who do better than the -3s. All the 0s get through this match intact.

2 people fell off the Top 50. vertigold and Skaz9000 did not have Chris Redfield vs. Albert Wesker winning the match.

It's just weird how Yuna/Seymour do better than expected given that their rivalry is crap and they were up against Fox/Wolf yet Tidus/Jecht aren't doing anything impressive at all.

The majority of Oracle picks were lower for Fox/Wolf than what they finished with, and only a small number had Fox/Wolf winning by a lot more than what they did.

Yeah, kind of like how Tales of Symphonia and God of War are almost even in strength, yet a battle of the Kratoses would be a slaughter for God of War.

Good performance by the Bosses here. I feel that they will hold their own with Samus, but not win. I see Samus getting less than 60% there. Maybe mid to high 50's.

Interesting question on the last topic if this had been Auron/Jecht. Do they win here? That seems 50/50 to me.

Also if Link/Dark Link were in the contest I'd think they'd stomp everything. Even though Dark Link has like no character whatsoever.

I'm thinking roughly half the brackets picked the Bosses, so we may be seeing 1 in 20 brackets still flawless by the end of the first half. If the same rate of busting perfect brackets occurs in the second half (meaning 1 in 400 brackets), we would still have more perfect brackets than spots in the Top 50 by the end of Round 1. The second half doesn't look much more difficult, though at least we have the Southwest division.

Easiest 64-character contest ever. Sadly, that doesn't mean it's that much easier for Board 8 members to win a prize... if anything, the casual brackets have a much better chance than normal.

Hey now. FFX is strong, but it's not top 5. It's probably not even top 10, though I could at least kind of buy that. And as said, games=/=characters. Fun fact: Tidus is probably the weakest FFX character (not counting Sin) we've seen. Despite being the main character. People hate Tidus, and no amount of respect for FFX will change that.

EDIT: Yes, Leon, yes it is. Not a very present rivalry, but it was indeed a rivalry. What we saw of it suggested it as the classic hot blooded/stoic rivalry dynamic which is always a good one. Of course, I'm not sure including rivalries found exclusively in the back story is a good idea, but it counts.
