Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. I'd say that it's impossible to know going in. too many variables. I'd say... 65% to be the clear favorites, but there's more to it - if Red/Blue can go to town on Luigi, I won't completely dismiss that as a wonky result. does Fox/Wolf beat Leon/Ada? --- add the c and back away iphonesience |

From: transcience | #029 Kinda, I'm still not sure. The most surprising thing so far is that rivalries (and the lack of em) matter, which many of us speculated and banked on with our predictions. In some cases, they've just mattered a bit more than we thought. After this and some of the GotD results, I think we've put to rest the vile notion and GameFAQs voters are incapable of thinking. Also, assuming we get the Link>Mario final, there's still a real chance people finish perfect. I'd be perfect for now if I hadn't picked Guybrush out of nothing but sheer fanboyism. :) Wolf is in Brawl but everyone I've spoken to absolutely hates him in the game. He's terrible to use. Very different than Meta Knight. |

plenty of room for upsets deep in the bracket in this contest.
Red/Ryu/Boss taking out Samus should break a lot of perfects. --- 90s games > 00s games |

had Ryu/Ken > Samus/Ridley for about 90% of the predicting period,
and then when I actually sat and thought about just how huge the gap
between Samus' and Ryu's performances on Cloud were last time I

I know its still a ways off but does Frog/Magnus have any hope of beating Raiden/Vamp? I still have a perfect bracket and was looking ahead and noticed I had Frog> Phoenix and then came to the conclusion that I dun goofed. Whats the consensus on Froggies strength? |
