Link actually seems to have something in common with Ramza here, in terms of lack of credit. That must be why we the voters must compensate by giving him loads of credit in these contests by voting for him every year. And it truly is tragic- that OOT ending brought tears to my eyes when I realized that Link wasn't going to get any credit. --- 90s games > 00s games |

But he doesn't get credit in the timeline he has to live in. --- 90s games > 00s games |
From: KamikazePotato | #244SF2 is absolutely not that well-played on GameFAQs. In general, yeah, but not on GameFAQs. No idea what you would base this belief on. You are almost assuredly wrong. I would not be at all surprised if it had a comparable playrate to RBY on here - not that it's relevant at all, everyone's played Pac-Man and Tetris too. From: KamikazePotato | #244 Dude, that was a joke option, Even *I* might have voted for that option there - it's easily the most amusing. I do hope you're just joking about this and not trying to act like this has meaning ^_^ From: charmander6000 | #258 Only Zelda would be aware. And Ganon but he's banished to another dimension or something. Come to think of it - would Zelda be aware? I always got the impression she was but I'm not sure how she'd know. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |
Being the chosen heir to the Triforce of Widsom could be enough. The last scene of the ending suggests that she remembers Link. --- Yoblazer: http://i44.tinypic.com/5nw45i.jpg Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
There is no way that SF2's playrate compares to RBY on this site. Probably not for humans in general either. --- http://img.imgcake.com/drakeryn/alecjpguz.jpg |
I'd
have to agree that RBY has a higher playrate than SFII, but we're
working with such high numbers where being slightly lower may not matter
too much. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/Rivalry%20BOP.xls Rivalry Rumble: 8/8 Today: Red/Bluel & Luigi/Waluigi |
SF2 probably has a higher playrate, just not on this site. --- Black: 3310-7431-2094 |
Even
if SF2 doesn't have the playrate of R/B/Y, it certainly has the
"general awareness" rate comparable with even the best games. Nearly
everyone who calls himself a gamer knows who Ryu is. You're not going to
see very many topics tomorrow asking who the heck Ryu and Ken are and
why are they winning. --- http://i52.tinypic.com/2zfiu09.gif http://i54.tinypic.com/10729w2.gif |
AlecTrevelyan006 posted... There is no way that SF2's playrate compares to RBY on this site. Probably not for humans in general either. I'd say that SF2 is more played among the normal populace than RBY... just because who hasn't played it in the arcades in the 90s? RBY has what, 25-30 million? I'm sure the numbers are higher than that for people who played both console and arcade versions... console versions themselves sold 15 mil. --- http://raptr.com/badge/cf898f37d9c30ef120ada6c35e636ad3/fs.png http://myanimelist.net/signature/RyanSaotome.png |

I
don't think it really matters which game has the higher playrate.
They're both plenty high enough and have enough general awareness to go
far in this contest and beat the other. --- http://img.imgcake.com/leonpngpe.png http://img.imgcake.com/squalloweenpngem.png |
It
doesn't matter how they perform because all they will be doing is
stomping fodder. I'll wake up to them going 90/10 tomorrow morning and
not going to care one bit. They have an easy path to the division finals
too. --- caps |

The
board's resident (and perhaps only) Ratchet fanboy is going for Ryu/Ken
here. I know Ratchet looked good last year, but beating up a character
no one knows is a lot different than tonight. This could easily be the
second biggest blowout so far. Hell, I could see it challenging Mario's
percentage. --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
From: PartOfYourWorld | #277 Hey hey hey KoolAid and Wigs are R&C fanboys, too, and Ulti's slowly getting there! As will ALL of you one day! --- http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/8718/leonflowchart.png |
Match XI: (3) Ryu/Ken vs. (6) Ratchet/Dr. Nefarious Previous Contest Ryu – 2010 68.97% against Balthier Bunansa 50.35% against Dante 56.88% against Leon Kennedy 34.02% against Cloud Strife Ken – 2010 50.32% against Albert Wesker 36.17% against Ganondorf Ratchet – 2010 68.39% against Eddie Riggs 43.84% against Jecht Dr. Nefarious – N/A N/A Analysis There was never any debate about who would win the match and after the last few matches this has turned into how badly are Ryu and Ken going to win. As the matches push our expectations higher and higher we are eventually going to call a performance terrible even if it wasn’t due to our overestimation. I feel a lot of people are going to feel this way as some predictions for this match are soaring past 80%. Ever since Ratchet joined the contest he’s been constantly one of the weakest returning characters, however last year it seems he took a step up in strength. Not only did he win his first match, but he was able to put impressive numbers on Jecht thus making him high fodder. Of course even with the boost in strength I doubt anyone would consider taking him over Ken while Dr. Nefarious is even weaker and he certainly adds nowhere near the amount of rivalry power as Ken does to Ryu. Like I said with Sub-Zero and Scorpion due to their rivalries I expect Ryu and Ken to be one of the strongest pairs in the contest without an elite character. Ryu may be strong, but I don’t think anyone considers him an elite character. The Ryu and Ken debate has spread to two sides; one side is debating them between the trainers while the other side is debating them against Samus. Their performance here will likely dictate which side gets more supporters, but like I said people’s expectations for characters to blow other characters seem too high. Honestly I wouldn’t start worrying unless Ryu and Ken fail to break 70% here. Also expecting them to break 80% with ease is a bit ridiculous, especially considering Ratchet isn’t as weak as he used to be when he first entered contests. A tripling is likely and it would cause a stalemate between the people that feel Ryu and Ken should be worried about the trainers and the ones that feel Samus should be worried about Ryu and Ken. charmander6000’s Bracket: Ryu/Ken > Ratchet/Dr. Nefarious charmander6000’s Prediction: Ryu/Ken wins, 74.78% - 25.22% --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/Rivalry%20BOP.xls Rivalry Rumble: 8/8 Today: Red/Bluel & Luigi/Waluigi |

From: LeonhartFour | #273 I'm not saying that playrate matters. Just that I'd put RBY above SFII. --- http://img.imgcake.com/alecoweenpngam.png http://img.imgcake.com/alecpngym.png |

And I'd put R/B/Y over Mega Man X, and we saw what happened when Red got fed to X --- Game of the decade? More like Guru of the decade mirite? |
I
have Red/Blue to the semifinals, but Ryu/Ken is definitely their
hardest match to get there. It's probably about 50/50 to me. Rivalry
factor helps both teams, and Red/Blue needs it to help them a bit more
to overcome Ryu's natural strength advantage. --- 90s games > 00s games |
I got a question regarding the 13th round: Who is The Kid and The Guy, and what game are they from? --- Official Marth of the SSBU Board Sign here http://bit.ly/qqDDST and copy this to your sig if you want Majora's Mask 3D. |
From: PartOfYourWorld | #277 Thinking it could challenge 85% is going overboard IMO. Ryu/Ken are clearly not Mario/Bowser level, and Ratchet's team is probably significantly stronger than EW's team. I'd consider anywhere from 71%-78% probably a "meh" performance that doesn't change my mind on anything. And even if they go higher than that, I'd probably attribute it more to Ratchet's team sucking ass than increasing my expectations for Ken/Ryu. From: ZFS | #285 Well if you include anyone who has ever played SF2 in the arcade, then I think the SF2 playrate probably blows the RBY playrate out of the water. That's like a gazillion squared people. Though of course once again, it has no relevance at all to this contest. I believe SF2 probably is in the neighborhood of RBY on this site when it comes to pure playrate - but when it comes to hours played it will be nowhere in the ballpark. People will have invested much more time in RBY. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

I've
probably spent way more time with the various SF2 games, and I'm not a

Man, was just looking through guru picks, how is Phoenix/Edgeworth and Alucard/Dracula such overwhelming favourites? 55.41% support for Phoenix/Edgeworth over Freeman/Breen isn't exactly overwhelming. It's probably low since it looks like Phoenix is going to beat on Freeman pretty badly. --- Pokemon VGC2011 NW Regional - Top 8 Pokemon VGC2011 US Nationals - 54th place |
