I have Frog/Magus beating Alucard/Dracula |
And now, contest realtalk: 1) Kirby/MK vs. Jill/Nemesis, who ya got? Going with Kirby because Nemmy is basically a zero, but I feel antsy about my pick. 2) Similarly, what about Luigi/Waluigi vs. Golbez/Cecil? The latter pair has a real rivalry, but Luigi wipes the floor with them. 3) Fox/Wolf vs. Yuna/Seymour: is Seymour's suckiness enough to let the Star Fox pair eke out a win? 4) Tidus/Jecht vs. Boss/Boss. Probably the trickiest match in Round 1, since the latter team smashed the vote-ins but Tidus/Jecht have the FF factor on their side. Opinions? 5) Phoenix vs. Gordon, the rematch. Will GFAW uphold the streak, or will this mark the triumphant return of GFNW? 6) What do you guys think about Shepard/Saren? They probably don't have what it takes to beat Alucard/Drac based off ME, but Mass Effect as a whole has been on the rise as of late, while Alucard weakens with each year... Also, Red/Blue as a 1 seed is the weirdest thing. Could be the weakest 1 seed every by a mile or it could be a worldbeater! PS: And boy, some of these seedings are so wacky. Squall/Seifer as a 1 seed is the greatest thing, but I feel so bad for Lopen seeing Sol/Ky stuck vs. Dante/Vergil. :( --- Currently playing: League of Legends, Chrono Cross. will win my favorites bracket, but unless this contest completely

Red
may not be too powerful on his own, but when I thought "Rival", the
rivalry between Red and Blue came to mind first. If "Game of the
Decade" can boost games on their merits, Red and Blue should get a

Also my BALLSY PICK for this is Chell/Glados going to the elite 8. Phoenix should beat Gordon pretty easily. Gordon seems to be fading (WHERE THE **** IS HALF-LIFE 3), while Phoenix has two
games coming out. They weren't that far apart to begin with, and
Phoenix/Edgey being an actual rivalry should put them over Gordon/Breen. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
I
have Red/Blue losing in R2. Luigi is clearly the strongest guy there,
and although Waluigi is worthless (and not just in contests!), Red just
plain isn't strong enough o make up the difference imo --- "Eet's game time..." |

It's
very hard for me to see Luigi/Waluigi beating Red/Blue. The former is
even worse than Crono/Lavos in terms of actually being a rivalry. The
second is one of the rivalries in gaming. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
Anyone having Red/Blue over Luigi is insane. That's all I'm saying on that. Luigi/Waluigi Vs. Ryu/Ken is a tough match. Might switch to Ryu/Ken. One thing I do love about this bracket is Alucard/Dracula given an easy run to the elite eight. I'm tempted to take GlaDOS/Chell over Frog/Magus, but as for now I'm going against all contest logic and sticking with the Chrono Trigger duo. I
don't mind the idea that Red/Blue might get a 'boost' for their
rivalry, but there's no way it outdoes the boost Ryu/Ken get. There's
only one or two rivalries in gaming that are more iconic than Ryu and
Ken - and I wouldn't count the Pokemon guys among them. Ryu's also a lot
more popular than Red. --- peace comes from within |
I
thought people were overrating the rivalry aspect of the vote-ins. Take
away the weak link of each pair and I think the results are largely
similar, certain cases aside (C/Katherine, BJ + Hitler). --- "Eet's game time..." |

For
each poll, two rivalries will battle it out, and the winner will move
on. For the first round of 32, there will be two battles per day - one
from 9:00PM to 9:00AM Pacific Time, the second from 9:00AM to 9:00PM,
with the remaining rounds being full 24-hour votes. Starting November 2nd, So finals are Dec 19, I think? --- My Japanese alter-ego. Hey all this is Bartz btw. |

After all, YOU play the part of Red, and at every turn you see Blue mocking you and challenging you, getting stronger as you do.
