I'm really impressed and pleased with Banjo/Gruntilda. CJ/Tenpenny is a big dissapointment.

and your best excuse is "It's Barthandelus's fault" (despite few people caring about Seymour)

Except that's a legitimate complaint. Seymour would beat Barthandelus.

Although this poll shows Yuna/Sin would've been stronger regardless, but most of us figured Sin would be stronger anyway when it made the Villains Contest instead of Seymour way back when.

But regardless, this is massive overanalysis. I remember trying to do some mock X-Stats based off of vote-in results from the 2010 Character Battle, and the results were pretty hilarious.

It's about more than Lightning. Nothing we've seen about FF13 looked even close to better after its release than before its release. Not only that, but the types of RPGs people go for now went through a significant change since FF13 was first announced. It managed to bring in a lot of excitement despite following FF12, but it still disappointed big-time which shouldn't be ignored.

Also, you can't really defend it getting last place in a poll of this "caliber." It's not even very close to eleventh place, and Yuna/Seymour don't seem so likely to SFF her. You could argue SFF/LFF in Jigglypuff's case, but this? Stretching it.

I'm still amazed Lightning vs. Barthandelus made a vote in. I've played most FFs and thought about lots of possible rivalries to nominate from them (settled on Yuna/Seymour, Tidus/Jecht, Squall/Seifer and Tifa/Aeris)... and that never entered my mind. Honestly, who nominates that? >_>

Lightning does have some good mitigating factors here (Barthandelus is "what", there is no rivalry, FFX's a bad opponent for later 3D FF to deal with) but this is a shocking performance.

Predict the next set of vote-ins, go go.

I've seen more support for Shirou/Kotomine, so if any F/SN pairing gets in, its probably them. Hopefully they'll do well enough to make it, though I doubt it.

Really should not attempt to extrapolate anything from these vote-in polls for use in a 1 on 1 setting.

Okay, let's just compare how Lightning looks in this vote-in compared to her last vote-in.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3691

She beat Raiden with room to spare and advanced to the contest. He was dealing with The Boss, sure, but she was dealing with Axel too.

Blame Vamp/Barthandelus all you want, but FF13 dropped big time.

It's also possible that people are actually considering the rivalry thing when voting. Lightning/"whoever that guy is that doesn't show up for the first half of the game" isn't really a good rivalry, considering the guy isn't there for most of the game!

Hey there's the other factor you're missing: rivalries matter.

This isn't just gonna be a tagteam, because the relationship between the pair is a factor.

This is a pretty freaking weak group.

I'm also really starting to worry that X/Sigma got in over X/Zero

I will be extremely pissed if that's the case.

I also had a startling thought, this could be the final contest on this site if site traffic continues to nosedive like it has.

Alexa has shown a significant nosedrive in the overall traffic for Gamefaqs in recent years.

http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?&w=800&h=440&o=f&c=1&y=t&b=ffffff&n=666666&r=5y&u=gamefaqs.com

The numbers on the left are overall rank of the website on the internet. So its fallen from 200 to 1000 in a few years

PotDs have been dropping off in vote totals. Here are the average vote totals by year:

1999 - 4408
2000 - 7062
2001 - 14019
2002 - 34435
2003 - 55397
2004 - 54598
2005 - 56643
2006 - 74644
2007 - 87908
2008 - 91112
2009 - 85797
2010 - 72588
2011 - 56882

Contest matches are not included in those averages. Vote totals began dropping off hard in August of last year.

Vote totals began to increase quite a bit in 2006 because of the huge amount of hype for the Wii, TP, and Brawl.

2008 was the peak of the vote totals, because of the fallout from the increased site traffic that came as a result of L-Block's 2007 run, and because 2008 was an excellent year for games with Brawl, MGS4, and Fallout 3.

For some quick Geolocation nonsense since this poll's about to end:

Banjo's doing about a half percent better and Raiden and Yuna are doing about a half percent worse in North America, and Banjo is winning Canada outright. The Kid/The Guy is actually in 4th place.

Raiden/Vamp is winning easily in South America, and Laharl/Mid-Boss is surprisingly in 2nd by a decent margin.

No surprise with Europe: Raiden/Vamp 1st, Yuna/Seymour 2nd. Earthworm Jim is 4th here.

Despite Asia loving its FF, Raiden/Vamp is still 1st with Yuna/Seymour 2nd, and Laharl/Mid-Boss 3rd. CJ/Tenpenny in 4th place. GameFAQs' Asia voter base seems to like GTA, for some reason.

Banjo > Yuna > Raiden > CJ in Oceania

Earthworm Jim is winning Idaho, Little Mac is winning North Dakota, C.J. is winning Montana, and The Kid/The Guy is winning Oregon. Banjo seems to be more popular in the northern states, for whatever the reason, as well as Yuna being more popular in the midwest.

Ratchet/Nefarious
Jak/Errol
Warrior of Light/Garland
Firion/Emperor
Tom Nook/Crazy Redd
Arthas/Illidian
Lucas/Claus
Luigi/Waluigi
