I'm
interested in another ME-character in the next contest. Shepard
embarrassed Ellis before getting 39% against Pikachu, Garrus just took
third place in GameSpot's vote-in, and despite ME2 already being out
last contest it has continued to grow. It's likely the RPG of the
generation (unless ME3 or Skyrim have something to say), and this is
GameFAQs. If ME2 can trounce a mainline FF-game and boost its

I'd
wager FFXIII will end up with more characters overall from this gen in
the contest than ME2 will. I never really hear any sort of consensus

currently looks like ME-fans would at least back him, and ME3's going
to mean more to ME1/2's whole cast than FF13-2 to FF13's. Meanwhile, is
it even certain Lighting gets a boost despite having her first game
come out? FF13's hype compared to its reception are very different.
Was there anybody else besides her and Sazh that seemed to have much
support? I don't see that game going much deeper in its cast without

Well,
I don't recall anyone else from ME2 even making the vote-ins last year
despite Shepard getting such a high seed himself, so it seems to be one
of those things where the fanbase is fairly split on who to support
next. We'll see what happens this year though. I don't know what Lightning's potential strength will be, but fans could potentially still get behind Sazh, Snow, or Fang. Just
for thought, what's the strongest game from the GotD field you'd take
ME2 over? Metal Gear Solid 3? Fallout 3? Resident Evil 4? Wind
Waker? Twilight Princess? Or hey, would you pick ME2 to beat some of our "second/third-tier" pre-00s games like FFVI, GoldenEye, or even something as strong as SMB3 or CT? Just to ask, how many games from the GotD field would you pick to defeat Chrono Trigger? I'd pick Twilight Princess and everything stronger. Heck by now I would not be surprised if something like Wind Waker, RE4, or even Fallout 3 managed to emerge out of that victorious. --- Currently Playing - StarCraft: Brood War |
I'd be very hesitant in picking ME2 based on a GOTY poll. We've already seen those don't hold up very well at contest time. I'd be very hesitant in picking ME2 based on a GOTY poll. We've already seen those don't hold up very well at contest time. I wouldn't even make any contest predictions based off any poll containing games that haven't been released yet. That's why hype polls (like today's poll) are even more unreliable than a GOTY poll. GOTY polls are a long stretch when it comes to making a contest prediction, particularly because GOTY polls favor recent games most of the time. The winner tends to be a game released during the last 3 months of the year and some of those games don't do very well in trying to retain their strength over a long period of time. ME2
hasn't been in a contest, but it easily winning GotY and seeing ME jump
in a contest is enough for me to believe in it until otherwise noted.
It would have had a good shot at Portal last year, and who knows about

Gears
of War 3 doesn't look all that impressive in today's poll - just 57.54%
on a ICO/SotC compilation. Looks like Gears of War 3 could be shaping
up to be a game that won't do well in a contest, just like the first 2
games did bad in GotD. On the other hand, "The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection" doing fairly well means good things for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. poll including all the usual suspects. It was rejected for being "too
random." Well, not random enough for IGN, which has polled its readers

So at this point into the year, these are the possible candidates for GotY on GameFAQs: Zelda: Skyward Sword Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Portal 2 Uncharted 3 I think one of those games will be winning GotY. Skyward Sword and Uncharted 3 will easily win their respective console GotY poll and advance to the 10-way/11-way GotY poll. I can't see both Skyrim and Portal 2 in the 10-way/11-way GotY poll simply because Bacon doesn't seem to like having 2 multi-platform games in that poll. I even have doubts as to how many non-vg characters even make it in! A few Stars Wars, marvel, and disney characters. And then what? I wonder if they'd even make up half the field, probably just booting out the weak characters anyways. This fellow has the right of it. We wouldn't be watching Kirby vs Jane Eyre (what the heck, SB?), because it would still be video game characters only. And 85% of people would not notice the change and just nom their usual Link/Snake/Kefka/whoever group like they've been doing for years. The only difference is that a dozen or so of the weakest seeds would be bumped out in favor of James Bond, Batman, Leonardo, Darth Vader, Homer Simpson, and a few more new characters that get good B8 rallies. Now, maybe all those new guys bomb because the site's too attached its traditional Noble Nine. That
was when Modern Warfare actually meant something. CoD4 was the
beginning of that franchise (CoD2 is awesome, but CoD4 was like the OoT
for the CoD franchise). CoD5 came out, and it was a disappointment going
back to WW2. MW2 came out and people loved it compared to CoD5.
Everything after that was pretty similar to the one before it and no one
