"Whoever you think VI's lead is?" Oh, come on. Don't offer any concessions to those people. It's obvious! You're above this! Also what about Firi-*sniped.* |
My only knowledge of FF leads before IV comes from Dissidia, so I'm not ranking them! Well, I have played a little bit of FFI. Regardless, the point is it doesn't matter which FFVI character you think is the lead that could realistically be considered the lead, they fit in that position between Lightning and Cecil (because it's a pretty large gap). --- "So cold. Polls for the next 3 days: 6/25/2011 - Do you know how to swim? 6/26/2011 - Do you ever give to charity? 6/27/2011 - Which web browser do you most often use? The first 2 aren't going to be interesting at all, but the web browser poll will be interesting because Google Chrome has experienced a huge surge in growth for the past 2 years. And of course it will be funny to see IE embarrass itself by losing to Chrome (which will likely happen this time around). --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Darn,
now I have to confess to one of my most embarrassing secrets and be
told that swimming is an essential skill, so it's a miracle I've
survived for 25 years without knowing how. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
From: LeonhartFour | #1001 If you're gonna include Zack, you might as well do Marche and Ramza and other such stuff. Regardless, why you hatin' on Cecil!? Wait you can't swim!? I refuse to believe that's possible. |
Oh right, Ramza goes between Tidus and Cloud. Haven't played FFTA. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
Well swimming is pretty important, but even things like walking aren't truely essential. --- BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Black Turtle for winning the guru contest. |
Compared
to 3 years ago, the percentage of people who can't swim has increased
by about 3%. 3 years ago, 11.70% of this site couldn't swim. Now, it's
at 14.59% and it should increase even more overnight if Europe and Asia
are any indication here. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
I initially searched for "disc" and didn't see the topic and thought the worst. Then I searched "stats" and was rewarded (or looked more carefully). Good to see we're still keep on keepin' on. --- One of the most troublesome things in life is that what you do or do not want has little to do with what does or does not happen. 4983-4640-3352 Brawl Code |
Oh hey, I finally got this account to unlimited posting after owning it for 4 years. This was a much cooler account before Magus became inexplicably pathetic. --- "Stay with me until the end. Please." "Not until the end. Always." |

Yeah. The best upset imo. |
Speaking
of great matches and characters in our contests, Ulti/yo/whoever did
the Hall of Fame-topics, when are we due another round of voting on
those? --- http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg Nominate E P O N A. |
And
since I am now a Chrono Trigger fan, I now have to cringe every time
something Chrono Trigger related sucks it up in these contests. Oh joy. What's hilarious is that right the year after Magus sucked it up, look who Crono lost to. Yeah. --- Currently Playing - Resident Evil 4 |
You get use to some of your games/characters losing all the time once your taste in gaming becomes more diverse. I'm still sad about the lack of love for the GTA trio. --- BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Black Turtle for winning the guru contest. |

I'm sure it's been slightly over a year since we last did the Hall of Fame thing. I'm pretty sure the contest match Hall of Fame was ran shortly after the end of the 2010 Character Battle, so we are overdue for another round of voting. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |

charmander6000 posted... Looks like us Internet Explorers are a dying breed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_browser_usage#Historical_usage_share Its still by far the most used browser, its just going out of favor with the more "Techy" kind of people who would visit a gaming website. Its used mainly due to being the default browser --- http://i56.tinypic.com/207um12.png http://myanimelist.net/signature/RyanSaotome.png |
I figured that Chrome would likely be winning over IE this time around. For a website that shows trends in browser usage, here's a good one: http://gs.statcounter.com/ --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
So much for Chrome tripling IE. Firefox just sapped about 2% out of Chrome on that update. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Well
it should double IE after losing 21-16% in last years poll, so its
still a good turn around. It should obliterate IE by the 2012 poll --- http://i56.tinypic.com/207um12.png http://myanimelist.net/signature/RyanSaotome.png |
So it looks like Chrome's 10% improvement came almost equally from IE users and Firefox users. Yes, I'm bored. --- "But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." "I am lightning...the rain transformed." |

is there going to be a characters contest anytime soon? --- ... |
Nothing
has been announced, though we've cleared the 6-month mark since the
previous contest ended. Also the 15-month mark since the previous
character battle ended, which is the longest period without a character
battle we've ever had. WE DEMAND A CONTEST |
Yeah, according to previous trends it's mathematically unreasonable for us to wait this long! All eyes on you, SB. --- http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg Nominate E P O N A. |
So it looks like Chrome's 10% improvement came almost equally from IE users and Firefox users. The 10% improvement was more like Chrome stealing about 5.5% from IE and 4.5% from Firefox. Not quite equal though. I even did a trend chart for yesterday's poll and noticed some trends in that poll. Time | Chrome | Firefox | Explorer | Opera | Safari | Other EBV | 25.09% | 55.50% | 14.22% | 1.73% | 2.97% | 0.49% PHV | 25.35% | 55.71% | 13.11% | 1.77% | 3.33% | 0.72% FNV | 25.51% | 53.80% | 13.99% | 2.67% | 3.13% | 0.90% BSV | 25.05% | 51.76% | 17.22% | 2.43% | 2.97% | 0.57% DSV | 25.58% | 49.90% | 18.12% | 2.15% | 3.49% | 0.76% ASV | 26.13% | 50.31% | 17.19% | 2.01% | 3.60% | 0.75% SNV | 27.18% | 50.59% | 15.49% | 1.58% | 4.42% | 0.74% Chrome was the only major browser to be consistent the entire day, except for the SNV. Firefox started out really strong in the beginning and continued to stay strong throughout the entire night vote. After the night vote ended, Firefox collapsed like crazy and never recovered to the same level of dominance seen in the Power Hour and night vote. Firefox dropped about 2.5% from the end of the night vote until the end of the poll. Internet Explorer started out really terrible at the beginning of the poll and continued to perform badly throughout the night vote. Once the morning vote arrived, Internet Explorer started going berserk, probably as a result of workplace voters being most likely to have Internet Explorer on their workplace computers. Internet Explorer did drop off a little bit near the end of the poll. --- Luster Soldier - Popular at school. ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ |

consoles did NEC make and why did Cajones08 put it in the poll? If

Turbografx-16 is the big one, and was popular enough back in the late 80s/early 90s to get a place in the poll. But did anybody outside of Japan actually have one, much less start out with one? >_> Considering how well Atari's holding up here, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the competition from that era smoked NEC pretty easily, maybe even beating Microsoft. I mean, somebody has to be voting Other here. |
But did anybody outside of Japan actually have one, much less start out with one? >_> Turbo CD and TurboGrafx-16 were released in the US. AxemRedRanger posted... But did anybody outside of Japan actually have one, much less start out with one? >_> Well I'm not saying its really popular or anything, but Turbografix-16 sold more than 3 times more than any other companies best selling system. Its obviously on a different tier than the Mattels, Nokias, Panasonic's and SNKs out there. So it shouldn't just be thrown into the other with them. --- http://i56.tinypic.com/207um12.png http://myanimelist.net/signature/RyanSaotome.png |
Oh
man, this poll is going to have some good trends. Nintendo is doing
badly in Europe because of the UK (Sega is almost winning there).
Nintendo is also doing badly in Asia, Oceania, and South America. This poll is North America vs. the World. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BlAcK TuRtLe, Guru Champ! |
Wow.
I haven't dropped by in this topic in awhile, especially not
off-season. It's really not about the contests anymore, is it? That's
too bad, really. There was a time when everyone would be talking about
the contests even if they weren't going on, and now everyone is talking
about what browsers get used and the fact that virtually no one owned a
TG16 or any of its follow-ups. How things change. --- "Principally I hate and detest the animal called man, although I heartily love John, Peter, Thomas and so forth" - Jonathan Swift BT with the victory! |

Sorry,
I wasn't trying to be critical so much as pointing out the difference.
I came here at random and it's just not the same as it was ~995 topics
ago. B8 as a whole isn't the same either. I just couldn't not remark
on how time has changed things. I'm sure in contest season that's the
driving force of conversation, but there was a time where that was the
driving force behind CSAD year-round. It's just not how I remember it
anymore. Ahh, nostalgia. --- "Principally I hate and detest the animal called man, although I heartily love John, Peter, Thomas and so forth" - Jonathan Swift BT with the victory! |
*voted Sega* What can I say? The first system my family owned was a Sega Genesis. I never even heard of video games until I saw a friend play Sonic the Hedgehog on his Genesis. I sadly never owned an NES or an SNES. Not surprised about the Nintendo result really. I am shocked that the first system some GameFAQs users owned was an original Xbox. Makes me feel kind of old. used to have much bigger mysteries to solve (WDF in 2002, whether
WW-Link mattered in 2003, the SFF from 2004, if the Devil Division was
