I'd
probably take Harry against Vader if the whole world were polled. If
it was just North America, I'd take Vader, or if only people above age
20 could vote. Actually, now that I think about it that way, I'm having
a lot of trouble seeing Harry getting votes from people older than 30-
Harry Potter started out as a children's book series, and didn't really
escape that label until fairly recently. And even now, it's still not
something older people (30+) are that interested in. Fortunately for Harry, most of the world population is under 30; probably the majority of the world's population is under 20, and he likely has more name recognition than Darth Vader nowadays in third world countries. I suppose it's completely unrealistic to poll the world; you couldn't reach most people and even if you could, a huge number of them wouldn't recognize either character. --- 90s games > 00s games |

If
the Wii U somehow gets well-received then I honestly wouldn't be
surprised if Shepard were a near-elite after ME2 comes out on it. Until
that happens though, I don't feel good taking a this-gen only Western
character being much more than a midcarder. He'll beat the guys he's
supposed to beat and clobber fodder, but I wouldn't be surprised to see

If Batman turns out to be our strongest non-VG character, I will take great pleasure in watching Link defeat him. *back from having missed two weeks of polls* Only 14% of the site having not read/seen Harry Potter is really impressive. Still think I'd go Star Wars > Lord of the Rings > Harry Potter for SF/Fantasy ranks on this site, but a number like that almost makes you wonder. ...oh wait, looks like only 11% of the site has never seen A New Hope (as of 2007) and only 10% has never seen or read LotR (as of 2003). So much for that idea! With regards to characters, I can't see Harry hanging with anyone from that Vader/Yoda/Solo/Gandalf top tier. Seems that everyone who loves the series doesn't care all that much about Harry himself. It's been so high profile ever since the lead up to the last book that people just want it to go away, but after a few years of downtime that will go away and be replaced by warm feelings of nostalgia for most people.
