The
question is kind of strange- I think the world is more dangerous than
10 years ago, but it's not because of increased crime. If the answers
didn't mention crime so much I'd guess the 2nd option would be winning.
The optimism has been drained out of the USA these past 10 years. Star Fox 64 vs. Sonic Adventure 2 - this might be a doubling. Doom vs. Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn - I've got to give the old classic the benefit of the doubt. Final Fantasy Tactics vs. Metroid Prime - hard choice; FFT certainly has a shot, but FFT was blown out pretty badly by MGS, while MP made a fairly respectable showing in this past contest. World of Warcraft vs. Grand Theft Auto IV - 40% on Paper Mario, or 40% on Galaxy? I'll take the latter. Street Fighter II vs. Street Fighter IV - easy Half-Life vs. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - FF7:CC did so awful... its only chance is that if it was somehow rSFFed by FFXII or something. Donkey Kong Country 2 vs. Skies of Arcadia - hey, DKC2 is respected AND well-known. If it lost I'd be shocked. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" I'd personally pick FFT over Fallout 3 so yeah. I would've picked BGII > Doom on the premise that most GameFAQs guys will view Doom as dated while BGII is more of a GameFAQs-type game...though on second thought, Doom would imbibe the "smart voters" into victory there. I honestly don't think Paper Mario is much weaker than Galaxy, if it is at all. Plus the WoW fanbase would actually want to rally against a GTA game. SF64 doubling SA2 implies that it would break 60% on Mario Galaxy or something. Lol. Half-Life, again, would probably absorb smart votes against "OMG a PSP game that wasn't even all that well-received!" I'd pick both DKC games over Skies, yep. Nintendo
is collapsing hard after the board vote ended. It was at 32.70% at the
end of the board vote and is down to 27.89% already. So about a 5% drop
in about an hour here. Asia is supporting Square-Enix. South America is barely supporting Square-Enix over Nintendo. Oceania and North America are supporting Nintendo. And how the hell is Activision in 3rd? The same reason that allowed World of Warcraft to break 40% on MGS3 in a 4-way match is the same reason why Activision Blizzard looks good here. Have
people actually seen what Square Enix has released in the past five
years? Definitely nothing that makes it deserving of being second in

Poor
Sega for falling this low (leaving little hope for Sonic-n-gang in the
future besides maybe getting into another SSB-game), and poor Valve for
getting snubbed. I think SB just took the companies he polled us about
awhile back about our favorite series from each of them. Bioware by itself could have been interesting too, instead of just being grouped under EA -- I don't personally hear people associate EA with Bioware's games, and I suspect that's true in general. With ME easily beating FF12's number (and CC:FF7's) against Portal, ME2 flogging FF13 on its way to GotY this year, SW:KotOR impressing against FF9, and Bioware recently creating a new RPG series in Dragon Age (a new-IP winner here)...I mean, that should really be doing better against Square Enix than this easy tripling on EA. Square has the KH-series and the old-FF cred, sure, but the only game Square has that could possibly 60-40 the best from Bioware in the past ten years was FFX, which is now almost ten years old...and ME2 will break that trend if it hasn't already. Today's poll has 13 options and I can't remember the last time that a poll had over 12 options. Probably back in the CJayC era. SF64 >> DMC3 DKC2 > WoW (although it could go either way, DKC2 is pretty weak) GTAIV > SoA (Not taking SoA to beat R/S/E yet) Prime > MGS4 SF2 > MM9 Crisis Core > Doom Half-Life > Gears Anyway, with MvC3 ready to launch tomorrow, let's go ahead and ask what kind of effect we expect it to have on the characters involved. Are we expecting any major boosts for any of these characters? I'm sure some of them would get bigger boosts than others, but I don't imagine characters like Ryu or Chunners would get big boosts from yet another fighting game since they're already so well established. Characters who haven't really been in these fighting games before (at least not ones that have released Stateside) might benefit from it though. --- "Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" vs. Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - SF64 would be flat out awful
if it lost. Maybe it could.... Assuming transitivity, Goldeneye >
SMRPG > MK64 > SF64. And the gap between MK64 and SF64 was pretty
large back in BGE 2009... there was likely SFF, true. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest vs. World of Warcraft.... mmmm.... I've gotta believe DKC2 could get 42% on Paper Mario. Or 37% or whatever on MGS3. Skies of Arcadia vs. Grand Theft Auto IV Metroid Prime vs. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - before GotD I would have chosen MGS4 without question.... Looked at the roster, I'd rank possible boosts with something like Ammy>Wesker>Zero=Morrigan>Dante>everyone else. But yeah, it could end up being anyone. All depends on who takes off with the MVC3 crowd. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

so MvC3 has arrived and Capcom says they're going to put out new
characters through DLC every other month for the next 6 months. OR
SOMETHING. The point is, the fans get to vote in their favorite
characters using a website, and the winners will become the new DLC.
(This provides us with a interesting little "real world" to GameFAQs
popularity comparison IMO.) So, here are the current Top 20s. Street Fighter II vs. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door....there's logic to choosing either way. Star Fox 64 vs. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas... again, I have to believe SF64 was SFFed by MK64! World of Warcraft vs. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Half-Life vs. Super Mario Sunshine Kingdom Hearts vs. Metroid Prime.... I'm not ready yet to say that MP has overcome that massive gap from BGE 2009, or even close. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest vs. Sonic Adventure 2 Halo 2 vs. Grand Theft Auto IV... probably low because a lot of people don't see any need for him with
Chris already in there, even if they technically like him better. Same

I'd pick Metroid Prime and Halo 2 to win those matches solely based on stats, but I suppose they can still be fickle. Regardless, just look at how things roll there. I don't know how much Halo 2 is supposed to get on GTAIV (but they were both in the same division so we should be able to trust those stats), but I think Metroid Prime gets 56% on Kingdom Hearts there. Considering how Prime isn't likely all that overrated in those stats since Fallout 3 didn't have bandwagon trends against Brawl, it's hard to see KH overcoming that gap. On the other hand, it's pretty easy to see Prime overcoming the gap between the two from BGE 2009 since KH (and non-GTAIII GTA as well, come to think of it) benefits from 4-ways, Prime was leeched there, and there has likely been a Metroid series boost between the two games contest. Everything Metroid related has exceeded expectations since Other M's announcement, and apparently the game's disappointing reception didn't do anything to hinder the franchise; at least that's what the GotD contest has me believe. --- Currently Playing - Resident Evil 4 Next Games Up - Okami, Star Fox 64, Smash Bros. didn't exactly look that good last year, but he did outperform Sonic
against Link (though who knows what happens with SFF involved) and he
didn't look that good against Pokemon Trainer unless you want to argue
a delayed MGS4 boost for Ocelot. It could be one of those stronger directly, but not indirectly. think MM classic gets a lot of votes meant for a combined all versions
of Megaman in contests normally. But he wouldn't get those in a heads
