Though, if anything, Galaxy 2's the one that's going to be hurt in the final poll, considering how well HG/SS is doing! Beating both Reach and GoW3!

Once the PS2 version hits, ME2 might be the strongest game since Brawl. Of course, it will likely lose some of that pop when ME3 comes out, but that game could be a legit beast if Bioware does things right - perhaps the only western game that could beat something like Wind Waker.

Depends how far Galaxy 2 sinks. Right now I'd figure they'd be around the same, but Galaxy 2's probably just going to go lower from here.

Seriously, I went back to look over it, and it wasn't THAT bad. RE4, GoW, DMC3, NGB, Timesplitters 3; if you're an action gamer like me it was like heaven.

Seriously, all but 1 or 2 of the games on this poll are awesome games, and that's not even including a couple more that didn't even make it due to the fierce competition!

2010 was the finest year for gaming this gen. It had sequels to my three favorite games so far this gen, two of which blew away their already-stellar predecessors. The other is still great, even if it's a huge glitchy mess.

Seriously, I can't see how anyone couldn't like such a stellar line-up like 2010's.

I personally disliked 2010 but I think it's more a personal thing. It's the year I stopped really loving games. I played UC2 (yes, a 2009 release), thought it was a superb game, but didn't fall in love with it. Which is a shame. It's a feeling that has carried through to many 2010 releases that I liked without loving, like God of War 3 and such.

You know what would be terrible? Ending up with an ME2/SMG2/HGSS poll where ME2 doesn't break 45% and therefore places the 1-on-1 result against Galaxy 2 in doubt.

2010 really was great for gaming, though. The only year from this gen that can even hope to compete is 2007, and '10 had same-series entries for most of the huge titles from that year. Granted, Black Ops and Bioshock 2 weren't fantastically received, but Galaxy 2, Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, and God of War III are all solid-to-outstanding sequels. Donkey Kong Country rose from the ashes, and with it came a resurgent year in platforming, both of the 2D and 3D variety. Bayonetta and Heavy Rain offered new, original, and polar opposite gaming experiences. Super Street Fighter IV kept the interest in fighters going another year, and as lukewarmly as it was received, FFXIII finally hit and gave fans their fix. Oh, and Rockstar seemed to make amends for GTAIV with Red Dead Redemption.

It's just an all-around spectacular year; and I have trouble thinking of any that are loaded with as many good games. The only drawback is that it really doesn't have that "game of the ever" gem to really top it off. ME2 came close, but I don't think it's quite worthy of such an honor. And that's where 2007 gets a slight edge - Super Mario Galaxy is still probably the best, most magical gaming experience I've had with this gen.

eh i cant say 2010 was "really great for gaming", but yes it was far from horrible. Id give it like a 7.5/10. Above average, but like maybe the 10th best year of all time.

Agree with 2007 was better this gen as well.

2007 had a handful of good games, but for the most part, that year wasn't all that great. If you really were into COD4, Mario Galaxy, and Mass Effect, maybe it was something special, but 2008 was a bigger year there.

I voted for Galaxy 2 but I think ME2 would be my favorite current-gen game if I played it. Loads of storylines in one game, and a very personal feel to the plot...well I'm at least going to play Baldur's Gate II decently soonish to see if I'm sold on BioWare.

Galaxy 2 is currently my favorite game this generation though, and I think ME2 and Fallout 3 are the only games with a real chance at changing that, out of which I don't have plans for getting into either one anytime soon.

Also when did ME2 take the lead? It...wow this is quite a percentage, though to be fair I suppose we should wait for the 1vs1 between the two of 'em.

The heck? 2007 has Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, BioShock, God of War II, Halo 3, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. 2008 has Fallout 3, and that's basically it. Sure there was also MGS4, GTAIV, LBP, SSBB, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Valkyria Chronicles, and Mario Kart Wii, but those games were either mixed reception from the start and/or fell off significantly afterwards (with LBP being the only one remotely representing an exception).
