Wow, I thought Santa might have had a shot at this. So very glad the GameFAQs voters have once again pleased me with their outstanding taste. This disgusting fatbodied piece of consumerist propaganda shouldn't even manage 20% on Link. Link is a ****ing hero. He'd give you the damn SKIN off his back. The myth of Santa Claus pressures your parents to pull out a second mortgage in order to buy you shiny, unnecessary crap. Nearly 42% of the voters are brainwashed, and it makes me sick.

Possibly. We've discussed it before, and some people think this site might be too text-heavy - too reminiscent of the internet's olden days - for young people these days. Heck, forget the FAQs themselves; the GameFAQs homepage has as many words and small text as your average news website. I definitely think we are losing younger visitors. If you check the "how old are you" polls, I'm sure GameFAQs is getting older and older, and that's not a good sign. Possible culprits are video walkthroughs as you said, and sites that cater to individual games, especially Wikias, which are exploding in popularity.

Just within the past few months, I used a separate website for Fable III video walkthroughs before GameFAQs had a single FAQ up. I also used the Mass Effect wiki for my recent series playthrough. This was the first time I used a gaming source ahead of GameFAQs in years, and I'll probably be doing it more often.

Link is dominating the world map over Santa- now winning every country in North and South America. Santa is doing best in Southeast Asia, notably winning India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Note that India and Indonesia have very low Christian populations, and Eastern Europe, another area Santa is doing decently, has comparatively fewer Christians too.

Because I peg Majora's Mask at 50% for simplicity. Games that outperformed it end up above 50%. I do that because it's much easier to base the stats of an entrant that participated in the finals. for the CBVIII it was much easier, since most places Cloud was the #1 and since he was in the finals, I could peg him as the 50%, but no such luck here.

This match was easily on track to break 100000 votes, but now vote totals have dropped off quite a bit since morning arrived. The best it can do is finish around 94000 or so.

Any chance of doing contest histories for games like we've done with characters? We could at least start with the games that have been in every game contest so far (which to my count are Perfect Dark, Pokemon GSC, Halo, SSBM, FFX, Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Vice City, Kingdom Hearts, KOTOR, Fire Emblem, and MGS2).

Santa Claus was all board vote and Power Hour, but still manages to hold up well overnight and in the early morning as well. Santa Claus falls apart after 11:00 AM and never gets a single hour above 40% for the rest of the match. Santa Claus does do better with the SNV though, probably as a result of Christmas about to arrive soon.


As for the trend chart for the final match of the contest, Leon can handle that one when he gets back again.

If you have a DS, you should definitely give it a shot! It's one of my top ten games ever, and the ending completely bowled me over.

Well I guess I could pick it up sometime. If the ending is better than the PvZ ending then it has to be good.

Heck yes! I was thinking about rallying for Dr. Salvador instead, but he can wait.

You could always rally for both, though you should probably focus on rallying one, when it's characters that will probably be hard to get into the contest. So as soon as we hear anything about a character contest we start rallying.

We should be able to come up with something for a portion like "What's this game?" Here are some of the major claims to fame of the 12 games I mentioned above:

Halo - helped further increase the popularity of the console FPS
SSBM - Nintendo's first big 128-bit hit
FFX - a JRPG avoiding cliches
Metroid Prime - set the tone for franchise reboots to come like Prince of Persia: SoT and Fallout 3, as well as demonstrating that first-person games could be more than Doom clones

Perfect Dark - GoldenEye's spiritual sequel
Vice City - helped further popularize and perfect the sandbox game, and oft-considered the best of the genre
