The
funny thing is that while RE5 is the ultimate loser in the real world,
in Wyoming it's as close as it gets to being the ultimate winner Real World: RE5<ToS<GoW<HL2<MP<FO3<Brawl<MM Wyoming Land: RE5>ToS>GoW<HL2>MP>FO3<Brawl>MM with the exception of Brawl beating Fallout 3 and Metroid Prime beating Half-Life it won every step of the way, Also, the Persona 4 fourpack is the most awful thing I've ever seen. Right
now, as I see it, only the middle four divisions are absolutely legit.
From then on, Fallout 3's and MM's overperformances in the final rounds
make things silly. Do you really think Resident Evil 5 could beat stuff
like Super Mario Galaxy and Knights of the Old Republic? Would you
really take Sonic Adventure 2 over Call of Duty 4? Does Ico actually
humiliate Modern Warfare 2 like that? Does it occur to you guys that
World of Warcraft still somehow finished in the top half of the x-stats
despite supposedly being anti-voted so heavily? And something seems
fishy about The Sims being stronger than either Persona game, no? Maybe you could just adjust the stats based on Diablo II's, GTAIII's, and Halo's percents on KOTOR from last year? --- Currently Playing - Smash Bros. Melee, Resident Evil 4 Next Games Up - Okami, StarCraft, Star Fox 64 |

MM
was probably bandwagoned/rallied a bit more than normal in the
semis/final, but I doubt it would be significantly weaker than FFX/SSBB
without it. It still smashed MGS3 around, 55-45'd GSC and proved itself
a good way above Oblivion in brushing WW aside. It'll be on their level

We don't have a great window with which to look at the stats, but MGS games are definitely much weaker than expected. I think it's safe to say the Snake love in the character competition was less attributable to MGS4 bringing game strength, but rather to the SSBB appearance which we can see doesn't directly reflect upon the games. Pokémon, eh, I think that's been discussed to death. As for WW vs. MM, SFF much? We know it hits higher in the Zelda heirarchy for 2 reasons-Cel shading hate, and OoT proxydom. While it would beat Oblivion, you can't apply X-Stat concepts to that. I don't think any of this is going to lead to much more strength though; if we were to have another games contest too we'd just get some more bracket voters (in exchange for the loss of the minor bandwagons). An early quarter final FFX vs. MM would definitely be a match I'd still question even with a minor bracket voting advantage. MGS4
was beastly last contest but clearly dropped off. Based off FFX/RE4,
MM/FFX and MM/MGS3, MGS3 was more or less where it was last contest -

If
I remember last year Shadow of the Colossus got 35% on Resident Evil 4.
According to these stats, it gets 48% on the same game. Sorry man,
Majora's Mask was clearly bandwagoned. Like I said, I think the best
way to adjust the bottom half of the bracket is to take Diablo II's
number on KOTOR last year and work from there. With the top half it
would be adjusting based on GTAIII's number on KOTOR, and then adjust

I'd
take Goldeneye over the other Western powerhouses (I use this term very
loosely) around here. It was comfortably ahead of Super Mario RPG in
2009, and that's likely a good step ahead of the Paper Mario games. You
factor in the solid Nintendo backing, and yeah, I'd take Goldeneye over
stuff like Fallout and Oblivion pretty easily in a 1v1. Might take it
over Metal Gear Solid as well; being the first huge-name, story-based

Oh, by the way http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3199 This result looks pretty darn good now, doesn't it? Yeah, I'd take Goldeneye to rock serious face in a 1v1. Yeah,
I've thought Goldeneye was very strong since last contest. 33% on FFVII
is really good when you realize that there were 2 other Nintendo games
in that match. 33% on FFVII with 2 Nintendo games beats 34.5% on OOT
with Brawl, and the only obstacle to me to taking it over MGS and FFX

SSBM
is the only one of the trio (or indeed, the only game in this year's
bracket) I'd take over MM in a match next year. It's close enough of
course for the result to switch quite easily with the others, but I
don't see what's going to change that's likely against SSBB or FFX- you
can say that MM beat FFX because of anti-voting or bandwagoning or
whatever, but the thing is whatever it is, it happens every time FF goes up against Zelda. It's consistent- and the same probably goes for Brawl too. --- Congratulations to Guru Champion Black Turtle, who called MM > GSC when most of us were calling it impossible. |

owe Yesmar a formal apology. I'm doing the PCA, and he's got a point
about 12 hour matches. The bad matches are all a blur and the good
matches and/or matches decided by time make you feel robbed. I do think
12 hour matches are the better format, but an outstanding 24 hour match

Yeah,
it's true that Goldeneye looks great based on those polls. It suggests
good things for Mario RPG, as well. I mention that because Goldeneye
edged out Mario RPG by something like 35% to 31%. Also, don't forget
that Paper Mario had a great showing in GotD! More evidence that SMRPG
might do very well. I would not pick Goldeneye over Majora's Mask,
though....not anytime soon. I would take Goldeneye over Fallout 3, and
it might be a good upset pick over RE4 or MGS3. Anybody want to post the x-stats for Germany (I'm kind of lacking a good computer with a spreadsheet right now)? setting. (Hmmm, might need a Day Match for those last two though.) I'd advise you to keep a very close eye on James Bond's bracket placement this Summer! Or in the fall. Very unlikely that the next contest will be in the Winter or Spring, and a Summer contest would be boring due to a lack of an ASV.
