~*Say What? Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

MM pulled itself out from an ~1400 pit in less time, but it had the help of (a diluted) ASV+rallying. I don't doubt Brawl has some rallying, but the ASV's done and gone, and even weaker today than it would've been yesterday with (presumably) more schools being out.

I'm not voting Santa. He never gave presents to me (Due to my Birthday, my holy day and December 6th being all packed that close, so no Santa gifts for me ever)

Santa is not really followed in here. I think that people would think that Santa it's just a Joke character and go for Link for being the more serious choice. If Santa wins that just means that GameFAQs is TrollFAQs.

Yeah, Santa was plastered everywhere in China when I was there a few years back. I think most of the people didn't even know what Christmas celebrated, just that it was the biggest holiday in America/the West, and that it had to do with Santa Claus.

Well, whatever. I suppose in a way, I'm still kind of beholden to a pick, since I didn't realize that this contest was going on until after it already started--hence also my Turtle-less signature, as I didn't submit a Guru pick this time.

I think I might vote Santa ahead of Christmas, because I'm Jewish and so the religious half of the holiday means nothing to me.

But really, I think this idea is stupid.

Also: this contest just proves what we've known for awhile: We need a full Games Contest with divisions not divided by era. Yes, the finals would still be the same as previous ones, but it would be far more entertaining early on.

I hope not. As the marquee symbol of commercialization, on top of being a huge insult to christians, the world is a better place without the fat guy in red. Having said that, I may just vote for him just to see Link's first legitimate loss in many years.

I think I'm going to vote for Link. I like green more than red, and his good deeds are much more significant within his stories.

To be fair, we have Nintendo-on-Nintendo action today. We haven't had a same-fanbase championship since 2004's FF7 > CT result. The only other one we've seen is Link > Mario, I believe.
