FFX needs 25+ votes an update to win. It's not happening.

Only 23.5, but yeah, it looks very unlikely at this point.

If FFX is going to win this it has to make more than one good cut in a row.

I say MM has this. Hooray!

Match CXXVII: (2) Super Smash Bros. Brawl vs. (1) The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

Last Round

Fallout 3 – 45.57%
Super Smash Bros. Brawl – 54.43%

Final Fantasy X – 49.85%
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – 50.15%

Analysis

Final match of the contest and the winner is still quite debatable; we haven’t had that in a while. For the first time in the contest Brawl looks very beatable while Majora’s Mask was able to use the day vote to steal the win over Final Fantasy X. It has been a great contest, but in the end Nintendo shows everyone why it is the number one company on this site.

I guess the main question is which Brawl are we going to see, the one that we saw all contest or the one that let Fallout 3 break 45% on it. Some people were calling that Brawl was getting anti-voted in that match because of its win over Melee, but like I said before if people were really that mad that Brawl won over Melee they probably wouldn’t have voted for it in the first place. Besides if people were anti-voting Twilight Princess probably would have won considering the defeat was really fresh on everyone’s mind. If you blame it on the fact that they were both Nintendo games then take a look at the game Brawl is going up against. I feel that Fallout 3 was the product of last minute craziness that we sometimes see in these contests, but should Majora’s Mask go and break 55% in this match I might believe that anti-votes may have been a factor at the end.

I’ve been underestimating Majora’s Mask for the entire contest; I guess one more time wouldn’t hurt. Personally I find it very hard to believe that Majora’s Mask is stronger than Twilight Princess though from the fact that it won over Final Fantasy X suggests that the two would be equal. Still Brawl didn’t have much problems winning over Twilight Princess as the game was pushing towards 53%. However with it defeating Final Fantasy X in a close match, Majora’s Mask probably does have its best case scenario and really if it can’t win this match I’d doubt it could have won under any kind of scenario.

charmander6000’s Prediction: Super Smash Bros. Brawl wins, 53.63% - 46.37%

This match was an excellent example of the difference between night/day matches. It went from 51% in FFX's favor at noon to 51% in MM's favor at midnight. Pretty awesome in that regard.

That's the reason I prefer full day matches instead of 12h, Having advantage if it's day or night seems kinda unfair to me. I rather have 24h and watch both contendants at it's fullest and lowest.

For Majora's Mask to win the final it needs three things to happen:

1) Win the board vote and power hour convincingly. An early lead will really help it out, because the night will likely benefit Brawl, and the day vote will probably be closely contested.

2) Not fall too far behind at night. Europe and Asia will be supporting Brawl a lot more than they will be MM. The N64 was not big in these regions, while the Wii is. If Brawl wins, it'll be because of this time period.

3) The day vote needs to go Majora's way. This won't be easy either. From Twilight Princess/Brawl, you can gather that the day vote overall seems to be split somewhat evenly. Majora will need SFF to fall its way and get back anything it lost at night.

My money will be on Brawl, but I'll be rooting for MM.

If just two of the updates in the pathetic 9:00pm-10:00pm were big FFX cuts, we'd be looking at a superb fight to the finish here. As-is, it'll take a miracle from FFX.

It might be unfair to the games themselves, but who cares about them? It makes for a more interesting contest due to more interesting prediction patterns and results.

Yeah, having more contestants make things more interesting so 12h are fine, still I think that they are not that fair as 24 are.

And FFX keeps cutting but there's not enough time, the moon will fall before FFX can make the comeback.

I like 12 hour matches, but I'd like the semis to also be 12 hours with the final being the only 24 hour match. I realize that would give day/night advantages to some games in the semis, but I don't really care. 24 hours of a game beating down another game without a chance of winning isn't very fun.

The amount of traffic that this site has been receiving in the past few months has dropped quite a lot since the beginning of this year. Since like August of this year, regular polls have been struggling to even break 70000 votes when they used to have no problem getting above 70000 votes during the months of April to July.
