there's
a difference between voting Melee and hating Brawl. you can vote Melee
and still like Brawl - most people did or else Brawl would have been
WAY weaker. the Melee backers generally overrate how much hate there is
for Brawl because they hang around the anti-Brawl circles more. that said, it's obviously there, though it is a clear minority --- xyzzy |

I have no idea how you can call it a vocal minority when Melee almost beat Brawl. Again just because you prefer Melee doesn't make you anti-Brawl. I find it a lot harder to root for Brawl after KP took one of my testicles when it beat Melee. think Link was anti-voted against Cloud. Cloud really struggled in the
two matches prior and Link shredded Sonic and Mario like tissues. I was
thinking Link would go for 55+ there. I agree too, to an extent. Cloud struggled earlier because of anti-votes, but I think that he was legit weaker than he appeared as well, although I think he only overperformed a percent or two on Link. This is a pretty horrible performance on Brawl's part today, tbqh. I would be willing to blame it on FO3 getting respect votes b/c of the name of the contest, but RE4 didn't seem to overperform any against FFX. Don't take that as a knock on FFX (I would vote for it over Brawl), but it's not like it's routinely put on critic's lists of Best of the Decade like the others mentioned are. --- "Ahem! I've been putting titles in italics for a while now. Not sure why I'm being attacked for this at this moment. I'm sorry if people don't like me, but that's no reason to attack all my posts in the stats topic that anyone might disagree with, or even ones like this. I try to be as polite as I can, and I'm sorry if you have a problem with my posting, but that's no reason to make fun of me. Ulti has been going after anything remotely debateable I say in this topic off and on for a while now when I've done nothing to him. I didn't want to bring it up earlier and drag the Stats Topic off topic, but it's very bothersome. I enjoy posting in these topics, and I don't appreciate having someone target me whenever I make a post. --- "Ahem! Perhaps
Brawl is much weaker than Melee, but was able rSFF because it goes
something like this: more people like Melee than like Brawl, but for
those who like both, most prefer Brawl! Either that or it's just a cool thing to hate Brawl all of a sudden because of the vocal anti-Brawlers spreading their opinion around. Maybe it's a similar phenomenon to why Sephiroth can't compete with Cloud like he used to in the polls. But the fact remains that Brawl beat Melee and no one can take that away! I'm
not attacking you personally at all, I seriously want an answer as to
how you could prefer 24 hour matches. Most people here could never sit
through a full 24 hour contest again. I explained in my original post why I prefer 24 hours for close matches, plus the fact that it's 24 hours of excitement instead of just 12. You can't get that with 12 hour matches unless you have two close ones in a row, which other than Cloud/Samus and Sephiroth/Snake has never happened. I'm a big vote trend guy and you don't get that with 12 hours. I just prefer a slower pace for things in general. In 24 hours, you get time to comprehend each match; it doesn't go by so fast. If you get caught up with work, or stay out late, you can (almost) completely miss a 12 hour match, especially night matches. Just like 4 ways, IMO, the bad matches are less bad in theory, but at the sacrifice of good matches. --- "Ahem! am pretty sure that if FF X wins tomorrow in the final match it will
get antivoted because people will see that it is in a battle 2 days in
a row and will assume that FF always wins and thus they will antivote
it.Also will you UltimaterializerX do a post match analysis in all the

matches for when it's reasonably close is the ideal solution, as long
as the contest can spare a few extra days added on. --- Dr Football and Snake have won this round, but Sephiroth will rise again! |

yeah, I think this is up in the air between the three remaining games.
Majora could beat FFX, FFX could beat Brawl, and Brawl should beat
Majora but I don't know. I'm not 100% that TP is stronger than Majora

don't think good matches have been sacrificed. The good ones still feel
good; we just get less excited nowadays because we've pretty much seen
it all and have a much easier time predicting what's around the

Yesmar's getting quite the over-reaction from Ulti. The post didn't say anything factually wrong, and I wouldn't entirely disagree with the opinion-parts of it. When you spend a day on one match instead of two, that'll help make them more memorable. When there were half as many matches per contest as there are today, that'll help too. previous years. Crono Vs. Missingno is the only one I'd consider. Not to mention that the last of good matches the past two year that would be better in 24 hours is much longer than vice versa. We have the following "Better in 24" matches, IMO: Dante Vs. Ryu TF2 Vs. Fable Warcraft III Vs. Morrowind GTA IV Vs. Pokemon Cecil Vs. Knuckles* Ike Vs. Zidane* Ken Vs. Wesker Missingno Vs. Yoshi KH Vs. KH2* NSMBWii Vs. MvC2 -Plus others, I'm sure. *Ike and Knuckles would have still won, but we'd have gotten to see comebacks at least. As opposed to what for pro 12 hours? Red Vs. The dead zone would be even deader. Probably. Back in October when there was a 40 hour poll, the dead zone was very dead when it came around for the second time in the poll. The second dead zone got updates with as low as 30 votes per update. In the last 16 hours of the poll (starting from the 24 hour mark when it should have closed), hourly vote totals looked like this: 1:00 | 1577 2:00 | 1185 3:00 | 938 4:00 | 706 5:00 | 535 6:00 | 558 7:00 | 619 8:00 | 713 9:00 | 819 10:00 | 907 11:00 | 1122 12:00 | 1148 1:00 | 1209 2:00 | 1217 3:00 | 1159 4:00 | 1110 The poll had 66369 votes at the 24 hour mark and went on to finish at 81891 votes. Had it been a full 48 hour poll, it would have been on course for about 89000 votes. Fo3 has had these random almost-cuts through most of the day. I just
think it points to how boring the % changes are. And we get twice as

We're
on pace for some rather lackluster votals as well. Link/Mario (the
first semifinal from early this year) is 5000 ahead of this. Link/Cloud
still put up 129,000 though, so maybe we'll get something big as
