RE4's board vote did kill FFX. it rose 4% from the poll freeze and RE4 was ahead for a full minute. that's a pretty brutal board vote.

if MM is stronger than RE4 by a good bit, it'll be up for more than 5 minutes.

Perhaps Snake got lucky by drawing Seph and Cloud in a year when anti-voting was running rampant. Who knows, maybe Mario and Samus would have disposed of him as easily as Samus did in 2006.

This looks like a fine performance to me. MGS3=GSC=Wind Waker looks pretty decent for MGS as far as I can tell. Unless we're back on the "Pokemon can get SFFed" wagon.

Zelda holding steady at its freeze percentage. I'd take RE4 over MGS3 for sure, but if Majora holds at 57%, it shouldn't be that far behind FFX. If we get the same anti-Square sentiment that has prevailed near the end of the last few contests ("Final Fantasy has won EVERY contest!"), we could get a competitive semifinal.

I'd take RE4 over MGS3 for sure, but if Majora holds at 57%, it shouldn't be that far behind FFX.

RE4 and MGS3 were almost equal in this match:

So after FFX got almost 57% on RE4, if Majora's Mask finishes near 57% or better, that would put it within striking distance of beating FFX.

Omitted scores got it wrong.

FFX sure has some pretty amazing bracket support. Nearly 30% had it going to the semifinals. The top tiers found this match obvious. 232 out of the top 234 brackets got the match right. Prediction percentage actually stays above 80 for quite a while before starting to fade.

Only one person fell off the Top 50. bennzyme did not have FFX winning the match.

We'll get plenty of that if MM makes the final. It will mean that Zelda's #2, #3, and #4 game can all take Final Fantasy's #2 game, and this will certainly cheese off a few of the more passionate Board 8ers. If that indeed happens, Zelda may be notably more dominant now than Final Fantasy was when we started these contests.

FFX vs. MM should be pretty interesting, FFX will probably win but it won't go over 52% if it does and that's an absolute ceiling.

You guys are too caught up on MGS looking bad against SotC. SotC clearly isn't the same game that put up 35% on RE4, or this whole bottom division sucks horribly as well.

You don't even need SotC, 63% against MvC2 (65% against NSMBW), 63% against AC, 55% against Diablo II, 70% against BT. All of these were night matches which means MGS would have performed worse.

Not all colleges are out even.....I have 3 finals today. 2 down, 1 coming up in about an hour. Apparently my old high school is open today too (I think it was pretty common in New England to have school on the 20th. Usually the last day ranged between the 21st and 23rd depending on what day of the week Christmas fell on.)

FFvsXIII might actually release in 2011 in Japan. I wouldn't bet on it releasing anywhere else until 2012 at this rate. KH3 probably won't be out anywhere until 2013-2015 since FFvsXIII is delaying it. I think Square will still stay somewhat relevant on this site anyways though. It might not top Zelda again, but it shouldn't fall too much.

I don't think if this has been discussed yes, but is it possible that the original Metal Gear Solid was never as strong as we thought? It's match against GSC doesn't look so great now, and given that we've seen that it's possible for Pokemon games to experience Nintendo overlap, OoT's presence may have been the only thing keeping RBY from blowing its doors off.
