Well,
here's what we've been needing to see from FFX all contest, and it
might just be getting started. It's right back in this b****. I'll also agree with red sox about SSBM not looking that good in BGE2, though SSBM was still favored over FFX after considering how MGS2 did on it before/after KH shared a poll with it and I suspect four-ways helped FFX more than SSBM. FFX could still beat SSBM, but it would need to assume Diablo 2 also adversely affected it or Square holds up better in the transition from four-ways to one-on-one than Nintendo. Then you have to consider SSBB beat SSBM. FFX's as big of a contender as ever before though, so how it does against LoZ:MM is going to be crucial. It'll need to beat it worse than SSBB beat LoZ:TP, assuming LoZ:TP >= LoZ:MM. That's reasonable enough of a goal to make sure it's still able to contend for the championship. --- This sig-space should be replaced by any number of GameFOX-sigs I made to support Epona from LoZ:OoT to make the next Character Battle. |

remember what happened the last few times we thought the big Final
Fantasy title would take out the big Nintendo title in the finals. I remember it in the Series contest. I remember it last Games contest. I remember it in every character battle since 2004. Once
I gave some real thought to a FFVII remake, I realized it's probably a
bad idea. It's a massive game with pre-rendered graphics. It'll be
impossible to do Midgar justice. It'll be impossible to replicate the
emotions and attachment people felt 13 years ago. It'll be impossible
to make the game in under four years. It'll be impossible to make the
fanbase happy, and Link will probably win as always. fans that have actually been playing the company's most recent games:
based on those, can you tell me if THE REMAKE would even be good? Crisis Core re-created a number of FFVII's locales on the PSP. While I would expect a lot more from a PS3 remake, it's perfectly doable while retaining the atmosphere of the original. The only thing is, like you said, it would be a massive project - as big as the next mainline Final Fantasy game would be. There's the obvious question of whether or not it's actually worth the money investment needed to make a project like that happen. Square knows how to do remakes well, though, so that's not really an issue. --- There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign. |

It's
not so much that they don't have the ability to do it, it's just a
matter of how much of an investment it would be. Truth be told, it
isn't worth it to do a PS3 remake of FFVII financially. It would be a
massive, massive project - it's not a quick cash-in like some people
would think. It would probably run them more to make FFVII again than
