Developers
generally don't make their sequels simpler......from simpler to more
complex is the direction the industry has always gone, which is
probably a big part of the rage against Brawl. If there was going to be
change, people wanted more complexity as that change. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Then you add in Brawl's other extra stuff, and I have no idea why you think people would have had a problem with it. Well as an example one of the more "legit" reasons why some people hate Pokemon is because it's the same game. At least those games have changes outside the 8 gyms, beat bad guys line. Brawl+ would feel like an expansion. Again,
not the same thing. Pokemon is an RPG. Melee is a fighting game. No one
excepts you to mess with a good fighting game mechanic, they just
expect you to refine it. --- DFF. |

People were expecting Melee with more characters and stages, and they would have been happy with it. People would be happy with it, but I doubt Brawl would come close to beating Melee, the rose tinted glasses would have given Melee the win. That's
the exact opposite of what would happen. Again, fighting game. When a
fighting game makes a clear and obvious improvement over its
predecessor, you drop the predecessor. Melee vs. Brawl being debatable
was the only reason the match was. If Brawl was Melee + Brawl's
character/stages/music, it would have been a rout. --- DFF. |

Kind of like complaining that Mario Kart Wii is simpler than DS because
they got rid of snaking. Melee lets you do vastly more stuff with your character than Brawl. The only "bug" being exploited is wavedashing, and without wavedashing, Melee still lets you do vastly more stuff with your character than Brawl does. Melee
did as well as it did because of the "Game of the Decade" vote, where
Melee was ultimately more important to the Gamecube than Brawl was to
the Wii. If this contest was "Best Game Ever" Brawl WOULD have routed
Melee in an SFF beatdown. The two games are near identical in strength, and I would wager SSB64 is pretty close to them as well. Head to head, Brawl will win every time though, and I expect the next Smash game to take over that. --- http://i49.tinypic.com/2ry672r.jpg |

Fox Marth Falco Jigglypuff Sheik Peach Samus Ganon Ice Climbers Captain Falcon All very much playable. By control, I mean you have more options about where your character is at any time, how you're attacking, etc. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Gotta
disagree about SSB being close to SSBM or SSBB. SSB got ~11% in IGN's
SSB-poll when facing them directly, it wasn't initially such an
outstanding success like its sequels, and few Melee/Brawl-players will
go back to play it if they didn't start with it. I think it could give
Mario Kart 64 a good match, but MK64 isn't close to the two SSB-games

Isn't
Meta-Knight considered like far and away the best character in Brawl?
There's no such character in Melee, whatever press Fox may get. Fox,

People
love Melee to death, but absolutely no one would have cared if Brawl
was Melee+. Melee+ is what everyone yearned for. Melee+ would have no
