wins with Zelda 1, Zelda 2, OOS/OOA, PH, Minish Cap, etc. though. Maybe
even with LA/MM/WW, but it will have to SFF them like nothing we've

Fallout
3 being a semi finalist is an absolute joke. I can name more than half
a dozen games from the bottom half divisions that would comfortably

was fine with the way SBAllen did it to give some of the lesser games a
chance, but he should have gone all out. Call of Duty 4, Pokemon DPP,

purposely set up difficult to predict matches and big series matches to
prevent a swarm of same-series games in the later rounds. I really
support that actually since it made it a bit more fun. If we want to

So of all the games that came out during or after the PSX/N64 era, it goes something like.. OoT > FFVII > Brawl > Melee > TP = FFX and then MM and Resident Evil 4 not far behind. As far as right now is concerned. Obviously FFX could prove to be stronger than Brawl but as it stands, is that the general consensus? --- Ameobi has been 3 times as effective as Bale at directly laying on goals this season. SM64
went even with LTTP while SMW and SMB3 were beaten down around 60-40.
Even with SMB3/SMW LFF, which looked small earlier in the contest, SM64

man, of course you can be a serious smash fan no matter in which order
you like the games. Although I must say people who loves them all, but
likes Brawl a little better than Melee, could be considered bigger fans

see it this way. Casual fans basically see Melee and Brawl as the same-
and most of them slightly favor Brawl judging by the poll results we
got. So, perhaps they rate Brawl a 7.1 and Melee a 7.0. Serious Smash
fans on the other hand, rate Melee at 9.5 and Brawl around 2.0. But a
vote counts the same no matter how much you prefer one game to the
other, so Brawl won, and that naturally makes Melee fans angry. Our
game lost because of people who don't even like Smash much who barely
prefer Brawl having their votes count the same. You're really assuming too much about other people based on no evidence. Why couldn't a serious Smash fan rate both games a 9.5 or 10 and prefer Brawl? That's certainly where I fall. --- See You Space Cowboy... |

There's plenty of evidence. Just look at Smashboards (or this board, for that matter). Of course it doesn't apply to everyone,
and it's not like you can't be a serious Smash fan and like Brawl (for
example Stingers is a tourney player and prefers Brawl). I think it's

I
think everyone here is forgetting that this contest isn't about the
better game. It's about what people like more. Brawl was definitely the
more competitive and fun game to larger numbers of people (you had much
less of blowouts with lower-level players because SmashBalls always
give you a chance to equalize) by evening out characters and making
some strong items to help even things out. Critically it may not have
been as good, but it was definitely more popular. Complaining based on which game is better to those who know more is like complaining that Citizen Kane lost in a vote-off to Shrek. Citizen Kane is critically regarded as the greatest movie ever. But I guarantee you that more people enjoed watching Shrek more. |

1v1s are more fun (or vice versa) than 4-ways in Smash for exactly the
same reasons as 1v1s are more fun 4-ways in contests. Sorry, but it's
the truth.......it's fine if you prefer 4-ways in either, or in one but
not the other; just recognize it for what it is! As far as contests go,
we are the people who take it super seriously and want the better game
to win, just as "serious" players want the better player to win. We
want meaningful matches that actually determine strength rather than
random matches too marred by LFF for us to really care which game won.
Basically, any of the major reasons people give to prefer 4-ways in
Smash, equally apply to our contests. And some people want that- they want a random, crazy, party game- just as some people want a random crazy contest in which the strongest character doesn't always win. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |
