I wouldn't be too surprised at all if MGS2 and MGS4 could have beaten SotC about like this if they had night-matches. All this shows me is that MGS2/3/4 are received roughly the same here. We need a MGS-poll, stat.

I think this is over. sotc is kinda an early vote game and the night match let mgs3 hang in there until sotc fell off.

That difference is easily within the margin of error. Different days of the week could account for that, who knows. I'd still take 4 over 2 1v1, although not with great confidence. There is definitely no way to definitively say "2>4".

That wouldn't necessarily prove anything though. You'd have all sorts of weird SFF dynamics. 2 and 3 share a console, the others don't. And MGS1 probably SFFs the rest. And maybe it SFFs the older games more? Historically older games tend to SFF each other moreso than newer games. Really, a "favorite MGS" poll would be pretty inconclusive other than showing MGS1 is the favorite (in all likelihood). Multi-option polls like this just don't translate well.

Well regardless of 2's standing in the series, I don't think you can make an argument for 4 now, at least. The theoretical bandwagon should be bigger this round than last and it's losing.

And hell, MGS3 started doing better when the sun starting rising for some reason

Analysis

The whining in the stats topic, not even on the board was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. How dare a more popular game that I don’t like defeat a game that I like? I guess the Pokemon domination on GameFAQs has come to an end. Zelda fans should be happy that their games will get a combine total of 100% of the votes. Wind Waker’s board vote was so great that it was in contention after the first five minutes and was then put out of contention ten minutes later.

Even if you thought Majora’s Mask was benefitting from some SFF it by far had the more impressive match. Oblivion does have decent strength, but I don’t see it competing with Pokemon. Even in previous rounds Majora’s Mask has looked the more impressive game and you can’t really blame it on the night since all of Majora’s Mask’s matches have been at night as well.

Before this contest if you told me that Majora’s Mask would defeat Wind Waker I would say that you were crazy. I even went as far as to say Majora’s Mask over Wind Waker was a board creation. Well here we are and all I can say is that Majora’s Mask has shown that it is quite capable of winning this match. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Majora’s Mask decides to lay the SFF hammer on Wind Waker.
