I'll
never understand why MGS3 is the most popular game in the series on
Gamefaqs. Sold the least, the only game that's pretty much outside of
the main story arc and doesn't have the real Solid Snake in it. You could make a case for 3 being the most important game in the series, storyline-wise. --- See You Space Cowboy... |

I'll
never understand why MGS3 is the most popular game in the series on
Gamefaqs. Sold the least, the only game that's pretty much outside of
the main story arc and doesn't have the real Solid Snake in it. MGS3 might as well be the central point in the series that all other games revolve around. It's gained a level of importance that puts it a step above every other game in the series. And its popularity isn't a GameFAQs thing either -- it's popular everywhere, GameFAQs is probably even unique in considering MGS1 the better game. --- There are no foreign lands. Not necessarily. SOTC actually did 2% better in Europe than the World against MGS4, and only 1% worse against MGS2. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

This contest is full of stupid crap like that, which only proves my point of how horribly removed this website is from the mainstream. Don't get me wrong, being removed from the mainstream isn't bad, but when you have mediocre crap like Golden Sun and Shadow of the Colossus making it past round 2, you have to wonder if the average person on the website would know a good game if it smacked them in the face. Of course, I know that my opinion on some of the games that I call "mediocre" is in the minority here. But it's not exactly a secret that GameFAQs is known for its bad taste in video games. |

I can't find it now, but Galaxy 2 lost in the first round of gamespot's 2010 game of the year tourny. And I think to something that it would have beat here for sure. |

It has to be extremely bad to sort of jar you out of this thinking, and even that doesn't normally work. It's not "just" Zelda fans that are drones or "just" MGS fans; it's any fan of any series. Not all fans of course, but every single series has the capable of producing drone fans that will love anything the series churns out. There's a fine line between being a drone and just being a fan, sometimes it's hard to make it out. MGS3 is "similar" to all the other main series games. MGS as a series follows a certain format both gameplay and story wise. It's just like say... Zelda. I think people don't make the comparison because MGS has "deep" storylines and Zelda is always straightforward. --- :> |

i get that. But I feel that every MGS game has evolved the gameplay and introduced pivotal new elements to the series. Zelda just puts in new gimmicks, and blatantly tries to be more and more accessible with easy combat and streamlined/linear progression and dungeons. |
