Doesn't surprise me. don't think that many children have played RE4.

Man, this shouldn't be a division final - it should be the final match of the entire contest! I love Metroid Prime and Brawl, but if you ask me, both RE4 and Portal are much more deserving of the "Game of the Decade" title.

As much as I love RE4 and KotOR, if I had to make as "objective" a choice as possible, GotD would go to Prime. I just couldn't believe that ****ing game was made in 2002. I've said this before (pretty sure I stole it from an EGM reviewer, actually), but it was as if the best game from years in the future fell through a time warp and landed in my GameCube. Prime was light years ahead of EVERYTHING.

Is RE4 considered a night or a day game? seeing how it got an insane power hour and its been dropping since the ASV kicked in I am starting tot think a night match is more favorable for RE4

Well, yeah, RE4 being more night oriented was obvious, but it's also pretty first hour heavy, too, so it's going to drop either way. Like Melee/Brawl, if RE4 doesn't jump out to a big lead almost immediately, you can just forget it.

Portal really isn't GotD material. RE4 is though, FFX is, Prime is, Majoras Mask is, and both Smash Bros are (yes I also think brawl is).

Portal isn't really deserving of Game of the Decade. It's a fun game, but it is basically a tech demo.

I think MGS3 definitely has the advantage. All the other SotC matches were during the day, and we all know how MGS games do during the day. Also, I truly believe that series goes 1 > 3 > 4 = 2 at this point.

While I agree Wii Sports is also a tech demo and while it shouldn't be number one it would be up there.

Skies over Persona doesn't surprise me. Skies was around at a time when people cared about RPGs. it's Tales-lite for being a notable RPG on a Nintendo system (as opposed to Persona's version of Tales-lite, being a fanatical character-driven game)

Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest.

I think people just miss the boat on Skies because Vyse has fallen off a cliff. thing is, Persona characters would do the same thing in five years - if they could ever actually make the field. no character can be as strong as Vyse at his peak due to an unnamed silent main character.

In 5 years I'd expect Persona 4 to be a lot weaker too. Wind Waker almost tripled Skies of Arcadia, personally I was expecting the game to go the same way as Shenmue.

it was an expected announcement that had been hyped for nearly a month.

I can't wait for ME2 to rock GOTY. PS3 demo of ME2 is coming out next week too, so that's a new audience. if this somehow pushes into late January, ME2 will hit PS3 then too. I don't think FF13 has a chance in hell unless the Final Fantasy-only population here votes for it overwhelmingly while ME2 has to deal with Fallout and all the other Western games.

Short game or even a "demo" or not, it got over seventy GotY-awards in a great year for gaming and got a three-seed this contest, making it one of the twenty-four most nominated games to be Game of the Decade here...that's pretty good company when you look through them, and Portal's got a clearly better case than some of them (ToS, Pokemon DPP, probably FF9, probably ME...all of which are RPGs in a GameFAQs-contest).

We'll disagree about its length all day, but it'll be remembered for a really long time for a number of reasons. It's GotD-worthy, though it's not my personal pick.

Are you still pulling from that list from way back when? Almost all of them were PC GotY (some of which was to the Orange Box) or most innovated game.

IIRC it only won 1 or 2 actual Game of the Year awards.

It's what Valve said when they gave Portal away, so I've been rolling with that. Either way, Portal was the star of the Orange Box anyway; it very well could beat HL2 now, and I'm not sure if it got as many awards as Portal either.

I think Portal could always beat HL2. that game is much more up GameFAQs's alley than HL2 due to the lack of shooting and the quirky personality of the game.

Half-Life 2 was huge when it came out and it actually won overall GotY awards.

2004 was also pretty stacked, Metroid Prime 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Halo 2, GTA: San Andreas...

Eh, I dunno about BGE2; there's no doubt it would have been close, but I don't think Portal had a real shot to pull that off until this year. Two million free copies and Portal 2 hype coupled with another year of HL2's story being stagnant looks like it's allowed Valve to have a new top dog here.

Portal's concept and design is genius but it's no way near GOTD. But literally EVERYONE has pleyed it. IT's that type of game that anyone can play it and it's accessable.

RE4 isn't underperforming here, ....If you look at the Genres and types of games that are left.....RE4 is in the genre most people would not like.

From the looks of it, this match has normal ASV trends for a school day. Today's match might be the last match to have normal ASV trends before Christmas Eve. Not sure what to expect from the ASV next week.
