Y'know, with Zelda still being strong this year (to the point where it might benefit other games that are like Zelda), and Final Fantasy weakening, TP probably does have a good shot at FFX, and might even win outright.

FFX would break 60% on KOTOR with ease, man. Not sure where you're getting this silly notion from!

KOTOR? Oh, FFIX faced KOTOR, right. Well 55/45 + 53/47 + 1 for the day match = 59/41 for FFX on KOTOR. Close enough to 60%.....not sure why FFX would break 60% with ease on KOTOR.

The 55/45 comes from comparing FFX and FFIX's performances on Ocarina. It's 59/41, but with Brawl hurting OOT and CC hurting FFIX.

This is fairly good, but it really doesn't tell us much. I hope FFX can put up a fight.

It's okay, New Nintendo or not, TP is still Zelda. Yes that's right I'm voting for a Zelda game I don't even like to win the contest just because it's a Zelda game and Link has to win every single contest. Call me a drone if you like!

Hmm, KOTOR's 4-way results were pretty bad I guess. But it did pretty well in 1v1 in 2004- got 60-40'd by a GTA:VC that put up 46% on Melee. Gotta figure KOTOR has improved relative to FFX since 2004, since it's a WRPG against a Square game. Of course 2004 stats aren't worth very much but neither are 4-ways.

Those results are very untrustworthy. 4-way stuff aside, I think you're one of the only ones here who doesn't think FFX 60/40's FFIX (or comes darn close to 60/40) before SFF.

By the way based on the x-stats here were the approximate overperformances so far this round:

Fallout 3 by 5%
Metroid Prime by 9% (lol x-stats have HL2 getting 58% on Prime)
S. Smash Bros. Brawl by 0.5%
LoZ: Twilight Princess by 1% (probably just because it was a day match)

I was thinking it'd be close to 60%, probably high 50s sans SFF before checking those polls and seeing that FFIX put up 28% on OOT with CC there. I completely forgot that KOTOR match even existed......shows how unmemorable this contest has been.

I guess I put a lot more trust in matches against really strong games, especially OOT/FFVII, than matches against weaker games. I actually know how strong these games are, and at least they feel more consistent. Don't know if they actually are or not.

I agree that stronger games are more consistent and more reliable. But in 4-ways, nothing is consistent or reliable.

I would just ignore that. FF9 isn't approaching 45% on FFX indirectly, that was always a safe bet.

Where is Luster getting how many votes were contributed by each continent?

After each match is over with, I go through the Geolocation results and note down the number of votes by each continent. While Africa is not listed as an option for Geolocation, calculating the number of votes from Africa is easy. It's basically this:

Total votes - NA's votes - SA's votes - Europe's votes - Asia's votes - Oceania's votes = Africa's votes

Any votes that were uncounted for by the other 5 continents were assumed to be from Africa, since no known votes have ever came from Antarctica.

Majora's Mask > G/S/C
I don't think anyone was looking forward to this match more than me. I've been one of the loudest Majora's Mask supporters out there, but after the match pic (without Link) was released earlier in the week I thought G/S/C might have won it. I'm so glad that not only did Majora's Mask pull through, it pulled through CONVINCINGLY. I would have loved to see the stats topic for this match (any chance of those going up soon TRE?)

Sure. I've brought the stat topic archive up to date. MM vs GSC is Pt975 Pg6 to Pt976 Pg7. It was a horrible match. I don't know why anyone would want to look back on it but it's there. <_<

They are. The exception to this is for the US states. Vote totals aren't shown for the US states, even after the match is over with. It's something that Bacon intentionally designed when he set up Geolocation.

Analysis

As much as the board wants this to be a good match it won’t. Resident Evil 4 is just on a whole other level compare to Portal. Portal also killed any hype for that match with it being brought down to Earth by Mass Effect. I wouldn’t argue Mass Effect 2 to defeat Resident Evil 4 let alone have the original come close to it.

I guess the main question is how much Portal gained since last contest. It’s pretty obvious that Final Fantasy XII is not the same game that we saw last contest, but at the same time 2 million free copies of Portal must count for something. My opinion of Mass Effect isn’t that high, especially since it did let Skies of Arcadia get almost 38% on it, but I guess I have to give the game credit it did a good job recovering from its terrible performance last year.

Without any kind of boost I think Resident Evil 4 breaks 60% without too much trouble, but I feel that Portal will have the ability to break 40% here. Especially if some people start rallying for it and giving up once they see that they aren’t doing much. By the way I was sort of surprised at all the whining Portal got last round for winning, I guess maybe the fad has started to get annoying for some people.

Close enough to 60%.....not sure why FFX would break 60% with ease on KOTOR.

Because I don't have enough faith in KOTOR's strength to believe it gets 60% on GS and 65% on San Andreas. I'm not taking DMC1 > GS or FE > San Andreas...yet.

Heck, I'm not even sure KOTOR would beat Golden Sun. I'm sure some people would be like, "But that puts Golden Sun too close to FFIX!" Well yeah, but personally 47% on FFIX would've been too close for KOTOR in my opinion before it actually happened.

I made the Top 50, finally; one more mission fulfilled. When there's 128 participants every Board 8er ought to make it up there at some point during the contest, save bad luck or you weren't thinking properly (too many risky picks, etc.).

FFX is doing great today; it's consistent with the last round. As expected (or at least not UNEXPECTED), KOTOR is about equal to Golden Sun, then... since, you know, it would be expected KOTOR to get low-mid 50's on GTA:SA, anyway.

In my eyes FFX is easily the favorite over RE4 at this point, unless RE4 gets like 65% on Portal. o.O Feel free to differ on that, though.

Yikes.... 24% for Brawl, and that's just an EIGHTH of the bracket. After beating Zelda it probably drops to 15%, then to like 10-12%, then probably down to 7% by the contest's end assuming it beats FFX? That's being optimistic, too.

I think that's right. I wouldn't be surprised if you could make the Top 10% just by picking just two of the final four correctly, and incorrectly choosing the finalists and champ...

I'd take SW:KotOR > GS. GS would do well on FF9 too, but I don't trust GTA:SA that much and FFX beat it down pretty well the next round. Similar things would have happened to SW:KotOR too, sure, but I don't think it would have been as bad.

Not too bad from FF10. Overall prediction percentage is way higher than any of the Division winners so far. The top tiers don't do too badly either. The top 138 get the match right. -53 and better manage to stay above 90. It's a fairly normal chart from there.
