Oh man, SFF'd SMG is strong. I told you SMG had strength, I told you all! Anyway, TP vs. Brawl is now the decider. Whoever wins THAT takes the contest. We saw Brawl swing it last year, but 1v1 might be different, especially without RE4. This
contest kicks ass in general. It's unpredictable, varied, fast paced,
and most importantly the games are great. There's a couple of snubs I'd
like to have seen in here but when I look at basically every game in
the contest, I can tell why it's there. And if you look at all the 5
seeds and higher, you know it's GotD material in some way or another.
This contest is run by SmartVoterFAQs, even down to the entrants, and
as a result I think it's impossible for any result to be "wrong" even
if it's a game you dislike. People are taking this thing seriously for once. And for that I say, thank you voters. Every game that wins wins for a reason here. --- Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig |

Nice username, Smoking Hamster. This has to be a KH-drop if Sora's any indication, though it's still definitely impressive for LoZ:TP. It's worth keeping in mind SSBB killed SMG significantly worse than LoZ:TP did, but since SMG was the #4 most nominated game this contest and we've changed formats, perhaps that can no longer be applied well. I've
also felt good about the contest. Great idea, been lots of fun, and
it's still up in the air. Nobody can agree with every result that goes
down, but hang tight and enjoy the little bit of the contest we have
left. We still got some heavy-hitters in controversial matches. --- Love Epona. |

Thinking
about it, WW got 65-35'd by Melee twice, so I can't see it beating
Brawl. That leaves TP, MM, FFX, RE4, and SOTC (incredible upset
bandwagon run) as contenders. TP was already brutally beaten by Brawl, RE4 as well. Majora's Mask isn't as strong as TP, and SotC barely scraped by an MGS4 that has looked like ass all contest. SotC wasn't a bandwagon (bandwagoning a legitimate 2 seed? Really?), it's just that MGS4 is completely irrelevant nowadays. I still feel good about MGS3 taking it out. That just leaves FFX, but the OoT/Brawl/FFX/MGS4 match last year doesn't inspire much confidence in FFX. Brawl beat MGS4 harder than FFX did. |

And
this is by far the best contest (that I have been here for, can't speak
for 2k2-2k4). Most upsets, most W2W matches, fantastic displays of
taste (SotC going far, Brawl > Melee, Majora's Mask beating a
Pokemon game) and the fact that the field really was wide open in a lot
of cases. I have to commend SB for putting together a great bracket,
although Melee and Brawl shoulda been the final. |

isn't really "beat down." That's close enough for a year and a half
plus a change of format to turn around, potentially. Unlikely but

I
agree with sox. TP got 46.5% on Brawl last year. When you consider the
format change alone, that might be enough to make things interesting.
I'm not counting on a Twilight Princess win, but I think it's

It's too much to wish for, but I'd love it if our usual holiday polls were replaced with a gauntlet through the strongest games: Christmas Eve: Contest Winner vs. Chrono Trigger Christmas: Winner vs. Super Mario 64 December 26: Winner vs. A Link to the Past December 27: Winner vs. Pokemon RBY December 28: Winner vs. Final Fantasy VII December 29: Winner vs. Ocarina of Time December 30: Bonus Poll - Link vs. Everyone (assuming OOT wins) --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

If
this were all TP getting stronger (extra Zelda votes with OoT gone or
something), then I would easily call it the favorite over Brawl. It's
improved way too much on the performance against KHII last contest. Seems more likely that a lot of this is KH dropping though, be it a normal drop or format change. That BioShock match still looks pretty bad. --- Dr Football and Snake have won this round, but Sephiroth will rise again! |

Some
of the Kingdom Hearts performances do look less impressive now (KHII
against Halo 2, namely), but I forgot that Zelda even faced KHII last
year. Going from 52% to 57%+ (TP can't fall more than that with the
ASV, right?) is pretty damn impressive. Even if it's just a product of

was hyped and released as a GameCube exclusive - as the last console
Nintendo game worth a damn before Twilight Princess. And then it sold
another million+ on the Wii. Anyone who denies that RE4 is entrenched
within the Nintendo fanbase is living in a strange and needless world

Brawl or TP are pretty much guaranteed a spot in the finals now right?
If Brawl wins I can't see Fallout 3 or Metroid Prime beating it, same

WHY ZELDA OF COURSE Who knows. I'd like to think Zelda was hurt more since RE4 was on the same two consoles. Smash is also a completely different type of game and was possibly (very slightly) inflated due to a heated battle for first. This might be mental gymnastics, though. Brawl beating Melee is now 120 points that I'll have lost out on. Darn,
now I probably won't have a chance to get on the leadererboard before
the Brawl/TP battle knocks me down again. Well, I guess there's always

making 128 game brackets is hard. I think I'm just going to make a 64

Suppose a constant HL2 from '09 to '10 for a moment. You can get this: Half-Life 2 got 49.27% on Metroid Prime. Half-Life 2 got 39% on Twilight Princess in '09. Metroid Prime is projected to get 39.5% on Twilight Princess. Kingdom Hearts II is getting 42% on Twilight Princess. Metroid Prime is projected to get 47% on Kingdom Hearts II. (It got 38.6% on the '09 Kingdom Hearts with Paper Mario in the poll) Halo 2 got 36.19% on Kingdom Hearts II. Halo 2 is projected to get 38.5% on Metroid Prime. Halo: Combat Evolved got 39.4% on Fallout 3. night match gives MP the power hour, and it demonstrated against HL2
that it doesn't have a particularly good day vote. Getting FO3 at night

years, and I'll take Zelda 1 again hoping this time the percentage of
NES voters on the site has dropped to a low enough percentage for the
