SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

I think of it like sports. I'd much rather see my favorite team get their doors blown off than lose close. Losing close is the worst possible feeling in sports, especially when the game is really huge. So yeah, Brawl winning 60-40 would have been a lot better than this.

Also this makes Mario galaxy loook good. I still remember how many people called that game super weak...it's actually going to be 4th strongest game of the div. Not bad.

Losing close is the worst possible feeling in sports, but I still prefer it to losing big. I mean, I feel more miserable with a close loss, but if I get to choose I'd still choose that over losing big.

Thinking about it, WW got 65-35'd by Melee twice, so I can't see it beating Brawl. That leaves TP, MM, FFX, RE4, and SOTC (incredible upset bandwagon run) as contenders.

The only close match that went the way I wanted it to all year as Golden Sun, and even I can recognize how absurd that is. GameFAQs likes Golden Sun more than San Andreas? Really?

If we never have another Games Contest, it'll be too soon.

As I expected, the Melee/Brawl match got terrible support from Europe. The vote split by continent looked like this:

North America - 74.05%
South America - 2.56%
Europe - 16.29%
Asia - 3.42%
Oceania - 3.56%
Africa - 0.10%

It didn't quite break the record for lowest level of European support in a night match. That record still stands at 16.01%, which happened for the Luigi/Meta Knight match back in the last character battle.
