Yeah,
the OOT proxy theory is really bad, but MM doesn't need it. To beat
FFX, it just needs to be around the 31-32% area on OOT. It's rare for a
direct sequel to fail to be worth 31-32% on its predecessor (so if MM
does win, there's no need to accuse Zelda fans of being drones when
it's clear there's a huge group of OOT fans who are NOT drones). --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Some
real sore losers doing the rounds at the moment. We thought MM would
win, it seemed logical to us, we put our brackets behind it and it won.
Get over it, no one is acting like a genius. If you are going for my specific logic, I thought it was pretty much a given. A number one seed, a popular zelda game whose voting trends would show a strong correlation to OoT in a contest without OoT (I'm not fully into the whole proxy vote theory) who would definitely have some SFF power over pokemon to compliment it's dedicated voting base. I also didn't think GSC had the same kind of draw as RBY, but this would no doubt have something to do with the fact that I would vote for RBY over MM but not GSC. I don't think anyone thought it would be the blowout it was but the writing has been on the wall the whole contest with the weakness of Pokemon games. |

Majora's
Mask and Link's Awakening are the only Zelda games I'd vote for,
because those are the games I liked. I assumed that was how it worked

The
problem with the Pokemon games is that they're essentially 2 different
series. RBY which was played by all, and is a casual powerhouse, and
the other games, played by the (lol) 'hardcore' fans of the series.

Pokemon's knock against using 4-way stats is that it's a die-hard loyal
fanbase. Kind of like WoW's fanbase. In 4 ways, it has a very strong
base that allows it to upset games who could take it out head-to-head.

I like Pokemon more than I like Zelda. it's just fact that every
Pokemon game follows the exact same formula. you can't argue this.

MM
might be my favorite Zelda game. But I just don't know how anyone can
look at this result, a match it was supposed to lose, which it is
winning 55-45, and think anything but GameFAQs being filled with drones. I mean, Link wins the character battle. OoT wins the game contest. And now MM is going to win the GotD. That is not normal. --- DFF |

can never blow anything out. That is because a lot of people anti-vote
the series because they would rather spend their Friday nights drinking
and picking up girls than catching a Pidgey with the perfect IV or EV

I still love how ExTha is calling it flawed logic, when he is so horribly wrong. He based his entire pick on a single SFF match, as opposed to the many other points MM had going for it - Zelda is higher on the SFF ladder - MM had more reason to be SFFd by RBY due to casualness - MM got a 1-seed compared to GSC's 4 seed - Xenogears/GSC --- http://i49.tinypic.com/2ry672r.jpg |

happy with this result because 1)I preferred Majora's Mask to GSC, and
2)I have the irrational feeling that this will help the next time I try
to rally Link's Crossbow Training. |

I was hoping the match would be close, but I'm still happy to see Majora's Mask doing so well. What a great game it is. If Majora ends up at 55%, it gets an expected 75.60% on PW:AA. So, maybe PW:AA is just a little bit above T&T after all! Nah... I've got to give MK Wii more credit than that. My bracket is shot. Oh, well... isn't it pathetic that in all three of my brackets, none had Majora's Mask > GSC, and none had MGS3 > MGS4? I guess to have a shot at a decent ranking at the end I need to rely on something crazy like RE4 taking out FFX or someting! --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

OoT is an anomloy. MM, WW, LoZ, LTTP, TP are all around the same area of strength. Without OOT, here's our list of contest winners: 2002 - Mario/Cloud/Sephiroth 2003 - Cloud Sp2004 - FFVII 2004 - Cloud Villains - Sephiroth 2005 - Cloud Series - Final Fantasy 2006 - Cloud 2007 - L-Block 2008 - Cloud 2009 - FFVII 2010 - Cloud Besides, if you take RBY out, Pokemon gets squeezed into a relatively narrow strength range too. And why shouldn't Zelda have several elite or near-elite games? It has many more mainline games than Pokemon does, it's a series that's been known for quality for decades.
