Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated. I'm cool with losing the match. But what irks me the most is that people who used absolutely garbage logic to make the decision acting like they're geniuses. They didn't do anything intelligent. They committed suicide and the pistol mis-fired. This match is an overhyped dud, and we're losing one of the greatest games in the bracket... BUT! On the bright side, this will make it all the more satisfying when Zelda goes up against RE4 in the semis, and loses in an Ulti-style blowout. "aww yeah" --- Kingdom Hearts + Uncharted 2 = dead bracket. This contest, man. |

might make the final, but FFX will be a tall order. Then again I
thought GSC could beat FFX, so I don't see why Majora can't do it. I
had a feeling those people would vote Ocarina by proxy here. The stats
topic immediately dismissing the theory meant it would happen, too. That theory is completely ridiculous, come on now, don't be crazy. OoT proxy theory is utter garbage and has no credibility. Also saying GSC could beat FFX so MM can do it is clearly not good logic. probably won't beat FFX, but why can't it? Its contest history has
consisted of a quadruple SFF match, a triple SFF match, inconclusive
matches against relative unknowns, and now this. I guess it's still the
underdog, but if this match isn't SFF, then if Pokemon's 4-way results
have anywhere near the truth, it's got a chance. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Looking
at the results here, I'm sure glad I took MGS4 over GSC in the
quarterfinals to stem the bleeding that hype train caused....DAMMIT! On one side, this result really screws me over. I needed MM to lose, and I really do want to see it burn in flames. The aforementioned Zelda fans who hate one game in the series? Yeah, this is totally mine. OTOH, this bodes well for my pick of Twilight Princess for the contest if this is simply the strength of Zelda on the whole. Then again, the percentage is only 55/45 right now. |

Its votes are split to MM because the first Pokemon is the only one everyone played and it's nostalgic. Even I played and beat it and that's really something considering I never played OoT, WW, TP, Mario 64, MM, Sunshine and Galaxy1-2. And I also said that MGS 33% or so would go favorably to MM. And lastly, Zelda>Mario>Metroid=Pokemon is the general order here. It was a match that could be easily be called based on Galaxy owning DPP and then being owned by TP because it goes by pecking order for Nintendo series, exception being RBY. my theory all along was that Pokemon benefitted a lot from 4ways and it
would see significant dropoff from that. 4 ways are much more
susceptible to 'upset' picks (which GSC was at the time) and Pokemon is
not really SFF with Nintendo/Zelda. I also stand RBY is much stronger
than GSC, and I would have taken RBY here, easily. As I'm sure most of

If
anything, this results hints at less variance among the Pokemon
entrants. There's probably not a terribly huge difference between GSC
and DPP and RSE. Heck, Majora is winning comfortably enough right now
