the plus side, SotC is an awesome game, and MGS3 will likely be
stronger than 4 and win next round in one of my brackets big "upset"

Who
has the link to the article/poll on IGN about the favorite SSB-game? I
can't find it anymore, but it being a week or two old and seeing SSBB
beat SSBM + SSB combined despite all the Wii-hate talk suggests to me
that it hasn't "settled" like MGS4 has. Nintendo's also automatically
got a little more longevity here than most games, so trying to try it
to the hip with MGS4 (despite its entire series looking worse this
contest), FO3 (an unrelated WRPG that's still looking to reach the
Final Four this contest), and CoD4 (despite its series becoming quite
hated here since BGE2) in the midst of four-ways is forcing an argument. I get that they're common opponents. Still, who wants to bet MGS4 and CoD4 have been constant this contest? Who REALLY knows where FO3 is at right now? Hasn't SSBB been impressive enough in its limited data to get too down on it? What about said IGN-poll? SSBB was older than MGS4, SSBB's lead character's story wasn't returning and ending, and SSBB wasn't the Wii's first AAA-game. Between that and Snake being in the only game bigger than MGS4 here in 2008, I think MGS4 had much more reason to "settle" from its BGE2-showing. Many people predicted it would drop, and now we've seen it happen; MGS4 has gone from beating SSBB in the overall-GotY to losing worse to SotC than MGS2. Hard to hold that against SSBB and suggest it's "settled" similarly. --- Love Epona. |

This whole bandwagoning a silly joke character/game isn't cute anymore.
Yet it seems every contest has one, L-Block, Charizard, Missingno and

reiterate once again that this is not guaranteed bandwagoning, at least
not to the extent where Charizard gets 54% on Kratos and then 46% on

Don't
see why this has to be bandwagoning. MGS4 already looked bad last round
against Diablo 2 (Melee doubled that game). Yes, this is bad for Brawl,
but not definitive. I'd prefer it to be bad for all the new games (LTTP
to 60-40 FFX, aw yeah). --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

This result is awesome. I just got home from a very long final and run of errands and voted Shadow of the Colossus... (No really, I did: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/7328/bandwagon.jpg) ...and I was very pleasantly surprised. I'm already out of the guru, so my rooting interest here is a bit outside the box. -First and foremost, I wanted to see greatone's outstanding MGS3 vs SotC picture get used next round: http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/6082/mgs3vssotccopy.png ; it's a top-10-image-ever type of match pic, and really needs to see the home page. I don't like SotC as a game, but that picture captures the one thing I loved about it. If you think I'm just making crap up to avoid taking heat for this result or whatever, go read the pic topic. I was rooting for this way before the match started. -MGS2 > 4 in the stats is too good. -LOL all the games connected to Brawl. Melee going 60-40 is back on, oh yes. -Bandwagon runs and people crying about bandwagon runs are the best thing about every contest. I'm all for SotC, Portal or Pokemon raising hell in this bracket. -I haven't been very happy with the MGS series since 4, and I haven't been happy with it in contests since the Snake > Seph battle royale shenanigans. KP can vouch for this: I said after MGS2 lost that the entire series deserves to get slapped for doing that. I don't see how this isn't a bandwagon. It's obvious the MGS series has lost some steam, but not this much. Run a Diablo 2 vs SotC poll tomorrow and Diablo 2 could have a legit chance to win. I also wish I knew which stats topic it was, or that I'd have saved tran's topic ranking the round 3 matches. I was literally the only person saying SotC had a good chance to win this, and everyone else gave me crap about being too extreme. This mentality is why the stats topic will always finish in the 99th percentile but never win anything. You are a hivemind -- a collective slave to extrapolated standings and using past results to project future results. Mario two weeks later. Give it another round. I don't think the Charizard/Kratos match was bandwagoning. That was a round 2 match and bandwagons don't form that early in the contest. Bandwagons generally form later in the contest when matches are far more likely to have low prediction percentages. Charizard/Kratos might have had a low prediction percentage, but Vivi/Altair, Hayabusa/Chief, and Yoshi/Missingno all had lower prediction percentages for round 2. I think the Charizard bandwagon started after it defeated L-Block in round 3. Charizard
didn't really look like bandwagoning to me. His matches looked quite
consistent, once you account for the HG/SS release/hype boost in the
Bowser and Mario matches, with the exception perhaps of the Kratos
match. That match is the one that stands out as aberrant, not the other
