And
its not like MGS has looked good this whole contest. Well your best
performance comes from 57% on Paper Mario, then you know something is
up. I think its more believable that MGS4 has fallen in strength since
the last contest instead of "oh boy MGS4 actually sucks I guess that
means all the games it beat suck too" --- "You brought your *****, to the waffle hut?" |

God damn, I guess I should expect such reactionary outbursts after this embarrassment. This result is not exactly good
for Brawl - MGS4 has basically been the FFX to its Melee. They are
inexplicably tied to the hip, having shared some 4-5 polls in the last
few years. In fact, they are far more linked than Melee and FFX,
because they have shared more polls and all have been recent. Believe
what you guys want, but of course this looks bad for Brawl. Suddenly,
maybe those day match beatdowns against weaksauce Nintendo handhels and
Valkyria Chronicles don't look so impressive to me - not when Melee
tested itself in a terrible timeframe against games that can actually
bring in their own fanbase. If Halo does well on F3 tomorrow, that'll
make another Brawl-tied game look bad. My confidence in Melee is
certainly not wavering after this performance, I'll tell you that much.

yoblazer'd nobody picked Knuckles either and Magus was the 2:1 favourite to take the division. it's about the same thing as MGS4. it's even more astounding in 2010 since people aren't blindly following x-stats like in 2005. --- xyzzy |

wasn't exactly coming out of nowhere though. A few people talked about
SotC beating MGS4 after SotC won last round. Nothing too serious but
there was rustlings. Magus/Knux on the other hand came out of nowhere.

dunno, it seems that MGS4 has certainly lost a step. CoD has as well.
The jury is out on F3 until it faces a legit game from earlier in the
decade in a day. Those games are tied to Brawl. I thought even before
this contest began that Brawl would have certainly lost a step from
early 2009. I still hold to that theory. After all, it still has not
gone up against a game that could expose it. Three matches: two
Nintendo handhels, one Valkyria Chronicles, all in the day. I still

schools are out here, plus much of Tennessee got a lot of snow so
whatever is still active is closed today. I don't know how much the
rest of the South (or nation) got, but whatever ASV is involved today

not like Diablo 2(a game tied to Melee) has been lighting it up out
there either. Its best performance is 45% on MGS4 which, as we see in

also interesting is looking at the ramifications of the next two rounds
if SOTC wins here... The performance of GSC, MM, and MGS3 will quickly

The high schools around here finish on Friday That's very early for Canada. High schools will finish on December 23rd in my area, but it could be different in other parts of the US. Colleges are a different story, though. Look at things from my perspective: - I thought MGS4 would be a clear step weaker this year (to the point that I didn't think Chris's 2>4 pick was THAT crazy) - MGS2 obviously has no reason to be weaker, thus meaning a much smaller gap between the two - SotC had a hideous pic disadvantage last round (that was the pic Snake used to score 1000% on Sora) - SotC has the pic advantage this round, because that melty MGS art has always been crap - I think MGS3 is the second strongest of its series legit - It has a night match, which I think will do more to help its trends than to help SotC "shenanigans" I'm not even sure how boosted SotC is right now. Wouldn't a super boost of this magnitude ("super boost" according to the people around here, because you guys apparently think MGS4/MGS2 is still a 60/40 or something) result in some higher votals?
