The top five biggest turkeys of the contest, in my opinion: 1) Metal Gear as a whole 2) Pokemon G/S/C 3) GTA: San Andreas 4) Final Fantasy XII 5) Rock Band 2 Though if Majora keeps going up, G/S/C will probably get the #1 spot. Also,
having ingrained myself with the fandom somewhat now and again, I can
tell you Zelda fans aren't really drones, at least not when it comes to
individual games. Everyone has at least one game they hate from the
series. The fanbase is actually pretty infamous for being kinda

be fair, I'd be more fussed if it was a good Pokemon game. HG/SS, DPP,
RBY, FRLG, etc. GSC is a decidedly average game until the final two
boss fights, which pull it onto the "very good" level that every other

I love calling flops pre-contest! The only way GSC would do anything here is if HG/SS boosted it. I hopped on that train but it looks like even that prediction was wrong. GSC isn't very strong. It's a solid midcarder, but that's it. I have no idea why people were so big into this game before the contest when it realistically had very, very little chance. GSC is not RBY which probably wouldn't have won this contest either. Wait, what? Where are you getting this 55% on Mario from? I think Snake/Mario would've been 50/50 last contest. Now Mario has to be favored though with the non-stop MGS floppin'. I think the clearest signal of Snake > Mario was that Snake got approximately the same percentage on Sephiroth that Mario got on Charizard. There were a number of other matches suggesting Snake at 53-55% too, but I don't remember too well. It's kind of hard to take Snake now after seeing MGS fail constantly, yeah. I'll definitely take Samus over Snake if that match comes up. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

FFXII's
a bigger flop than San Andreas. San Andreas went into a debated match
against an unknown and lost while getting into high 40s with a few
disadvantages (new release, time of day, picture). FFXII went into a
debated match and got 40%... and unless Portal goes out and gets close

GSC is definitely favoured by the "hardcore" Pokemon fans, so it held up surprisingly good against RBY and MM. This wasn't LOL 4-way stats or something. There's a direct match here. The obvious silver lining, of course, is LOL 4-WAYS. I've been preaching for years about that format being illegitimate. It makes no sense to take GSC in that case. It's not a weird SFF match, it's pretty empirical data that GSC isn't strong enough and gets mauled by both Zelda games. Then pretend that one of the Majora's Mask characters had an amazing, dark horse like run in the last contest on the back of one of the most wildly successful re-releases in history. No. ****ing.
