Which means at one point, they thought it was funny, but then got cranky because the lines turned into memes and became mainstream. Besides, I agree that sometimes spewing out certain jokes just isn't funny, because being funny is all about the proper timing. But just because some people think spouting "the cake is a lie" at unfunny times doesn't man that the line itself isn't still amusing, when used properly (or at least with the correct timing). |

nah,
all jokes get old after a while. Portal was never LOL funny, it was
just clever and witty. once you suck the cleverness out of it by
repeating out of context a hundred times, it loses all charm. it's
still clever in-game but out of game it's just tiresome. --- xyzzy |

As
someone who took Portal to the division finals, I was more worried
pre-contest about Mass Effect than FFXII. Looks like I was on to
something! This is a really, really great performance from ME. If Mass Effect 2 loses the GotY poll, I'd be legitimately shocked. --- Kingdom Hearts + Uncharted 2 = dead bracket. This contest, man. |

doubt Black Ops will win GotY, honestly. It won't embarrass itself the
way both Modern Warfares did in this contest, but if G4's contest is
any indication, ME2 should receive heavy casual support as well... and

I tend to unintentionally piss people off, because I say things that I don't find offensive at the time, since I tend to be a bit polarizing sometimes. Assuming we're allowed to make a pick on match 127, your current maximum score is 101700. I don't know how the final match will be handled. Technically, you couldn't make a pick for match 127 until both semifinal matches are decided, but after the second semifinal match is decided, we go right into the finals. Yes it's not a fan favourite but it was still nominated in this contest and BAck in 06 FF was much bigger and it goes back to this thing called Hype. XII's negative reception grew over time among fans though. XIII was flamed ever since the JPN release and was probably the most mixed recieved FF game to date. Also FFXII barely beat Gears of war. actually voted for FFXII in that GOTY poll. Pretty ashamed of that fact
now. Recency does play a big factor in GOTY voting, I think. If a
game's just come out and you like it, you're more likely to favor it

The GotY polls have very little to do with how much people like the games. It's all about hype and perception. Maybe if FF13 had come out two weeks before the GotY poll started, it might have won, but now? Everyone is so down on Square that is has basically no chance. --- DFF |

Gears
of War was critically acclaimed and became weaker as people forgot
about. FFXII while it has gotten weaker too didn't start out too well
among fans, I remember already debating with other people whether or

There's no real reason to believe that FFXIII is that much more popular than FFXII. I definitely wouldn't take it to beat Fallout 3. --- There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign. |
