Huh, FFIX has held up surprisingly well today. It's even started gaining back some percentage the last few hours. We're less than half a percent away from where we were after one hour. Well done, FFIX.

And honestly, I was of the opinion that this match made MGS4 look better, not worse. It'd beat FFIX and take care of KOTOR without much trouble. KOTOR and Halo aren't beating D2, I don't think. I still think FO3 would have a hard time dealing with MGS4, so I guess I'll be able to say more after FO3/Halo.

I feel like most of these are pretty simple, SMG vs. HL2 is my only real problem. Diablo 2 taking out HL2 is possible, but I choose to bet against it. I take what I feel might be a bit of an upset though in the final. An actual bracket decision would depend on how MP vs. HL2 goes, really.

So I've been doing some X-Stats, and WWF No Mercy is supposed to get around 2.68% on Brawl. I doubt I've been doing this thing right though...

Nope, you aren't doing it right. I don't blame you for not doing it right, because I didn't quite understand basic x-stats until red sox posted an example of how to calculate x-stats back in the discussion topic for the last GameSpot contest. But if you want to figure out what WWF No Mercy gets on Brawl, you'll need to do 2 calculations to figure that one out. First, you'll need to do this:

28.27 * 35.21 / 50 (to calculate what No Mercy gets on Pokemon DPP)

For the record, the 28.27 was No Mercy's percentage against Fire Emblem: PoR while the 35.21 is the percentage Fire Emblem: PoR got on Pokemon DPP. That calculation would give you a result of 19.90, which would be No Mercy's percentage against Pokemon DPP. You'll have to use that 19.90 in the next step.

Then you'll need this calculation to figure out what No Mercy gets on Brawl

19.90 * 27.10 / 50

As I said earlier, 19.90 was No Mercy's percentage on Fire Emblem: PoR while 27.10 is Pokemon DPP's percentage on Brawl. The result of the second calculation would be 10.79, after rounding up to second decimal place.

There is no reason for Persona 3 and Persona 4 to have different strength so this isn't very impressive by RE4. It looks barely stronger than FF9, which got 69% on Persona

Omitted scores got it wrong.

Not too bad for prediction percentage. It's even higher than TP's was. The top tiers didn't have trouble with the match. For the most part, -20 and better managed to stay above 90. A few people near the top do get the match wrong. Overall this is a pretty normal chart and prediction percentage falls off as you would expect.

3 people fell off the Top 50. Xetherion and axelslament and Bryanishxc did not have FF9 winning the match.

What's with the insane preference of Asia/Phillipines for KH2? Very strange.

On the day of the KH/KH2 match, someone pointed out that the difference between KH and KH2 is that KH focuses more on the Disney part than the Final Fantasy part, while KH2 focuses more on the Final Fantasy part than the Disney part. Since KH2 is more Final Fantasy-oriented and Final Fantasy does very well in Asia/Phillipines, that might explain the insane preference there.

This is where you're wrong. You don't have to be an "Atlus fan" to like some of their games, the same way you don't need to be a "Squaresoft Fan" to like TWEWY or the FFT games. Personally, I thought P4 was a great game, but thought P3 was boring as crap. Also, There are a number of FF games I would vote over P4, but I would still vote P3 over other FF games.

You're oversimplifying something that's not clear-cut in the slightest, and if anything, the fanbase has shown that there are many people who like P3 or P4 and dislike the other game. Fact is, there is every reason to believe that P4 is slightly stronger than its predecessor.

Put me in the camp that voted for P4, but wouldn't have voted for P3.

That said, I think if we put P3 and P4 against each other, we'd probably be looking at a 43/57 matchup. I think the difference in indirect strength is only a few %.

FFX probably did not SFF Golden Sun since it's Nintendo, and God of War and SA are definitely not the same genre.

FFX and FFVII. Not FFIX, which is not hated. FFIX is pretty clearly a night game, it's day vote is garbage and it's not anti-voted (in fact it's probably a minor board fave). To talk about FFIX like it's relevant to FFX is dumb and I don't why you'd even attempt it.

Anyone that at this point looks at the trends charts of FFX and RE4 so far this contest, and thinks that the night match is an clear advantage for FFX, is delusional. I'm sorry but there's no other way to put it, what exactly is people's reasoning? The evidence is pretty damn blatant.

FFX rises to heaven. It was straight doubling GS during the day. It would've very likely finished higher in a 24 hour match than what it had at noon. I'm not sure what is hard to comprehend here?

I could see a Snake/Cloud scenario but in a 12 hour match developing here, where RE4 jumps out early, FFX storms back but then simply runs of of time - failing to finish a comeback it easily would have completed in a 24 hour match.

I don't know if RE4 will finish much higher or at all higher in a night match as it would in a day match - but a night match is RE4's best shot simply because chaos is more likely in a 12 hour night match. I really don't think RE4 would beat FFX in a 24 hour match, but it has a shot here.

For all the FF games, I'd say night > day, but for VII, 24 hours is even better, and for VIII and X, 24 hours and night are probably pretty close.

There is little question that FF7/Cloud/Sephiroth is worse at 12 hour night than 12 hour day against neutral competition. 24 hour>day>night for FF7. FFX is less clear, 24 hours is probably best, not sure yet if day or night is better. But we've seen nothing so far to indicate it's better at night. Also let's not forget FFX's strong SNV. A day match is more than just the ASV, just like a night match is far more than just the dead hours. People really seem to get confused when it comes to understanding how trends relate to 12 hour matches.

My guess is that P4 is probably slightly stronger than P3. RE4 doing just fine here. Not much I'd take from this match even if it was off a few percent.

Yes that's what my first thought was as well, however the favoritism for KH2 was just so extreme. I wouldn't expect it to be nearly that huge, even if they love Square so much. It's such a startling level of dominance.

No. You're confusing what I'm saying. This being RE4's best chance, doesn't mean it will actually win. Also if you look at Sephiroth/Missingno, it's pretty clear that Seph would've finished with a higher %age in a 24 hour match than he did in the night match, despite Missingno supposedly being the "day" character.

RE4/FFX should be similar to Snake/Cloud and Seph/Missingno in terms of trends.

He's trying to say that FFX is doing a good job at bringing in the votes too. With higher vote totals, it's harder to hold off a comeback. Besides FFX, the Zelda games and KH games are also doing good at bringing in votes.
