Obviously, if you want MM to beat G/S/C, you want a picture of Link, not something silly like Skull Kid or Angry Moon, so yeah. --- Support Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers) for Character Battle IX! http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/9302/banner5morrigan2.jpg |

From: TheKoolAidShoto | #401 Link he came to town to make sure his games win But yeah, FDL is, like, a MUST here. It's Link at his most badass by a long shot, and given GSC is gonna have a godslaying pic, it's only fair to at least give it a deity to square off against! :P --- Placeholder anti-capslock sig. |

It's pretty easy to tell. Awesome looking Sora = KH2 Goofy looking Sora = KH1 You don't even need the titles as long as you know this! Uh, I think we usually aim for everyone knowing which pic goes to which game, not just the people that have played both. --- For the swarm... |

From: LeonhartFour | #1960 Well, KH1 Sora has bright colors, KH2 Sora might look cooler - but he doesn't stand out very well. I think the pic will be pretty irrelevant for that match, because unlike most pics which pic is for which game won't be instantly known by most voters (the II is seriously barely visible), and the more badass Sora is also the more blandly colored one. Everything seems to even out. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

Some
x-stats work for this match - CoD4 went from 38.24% on Brawl to 31%
once SMG was removed. SMG didn't seem to SFF Pokemon, but Brawl did
seem to SFF SMG. DPP got 45.11% on SMG. Working through Brawl/SMG, that gives you DPP getting 24.79% on Brawl. But if you boost for the Brawl/SMG LFF, you get 24.79*38.24/31=30.58%. Which would predict Brawl to get 69.42% in this match, and would assume that Brawl would SFF DPP the same ratio it SFFed Galaxy. I know it looks eerily accurate, but I still don't buy that round 3 match Brawl had last year. 38% to 31% is a substantially more damage than Sephiroth did to Cloud- and SMG was pulling in a lower percentage relative to Brawl than Seph was relative to Cloud too. New Nintendo LFF is brutal, but I doubt it quite matches same game LFF. I still think Brawl overperformed due to standing out in that match last year, and if Melee matched its percentage this year, that means either Melee is just stronger, or COD4 fell, or both. DPP lost to SMG comfortably, which looked to be on par with COD4 last year, so today's match suggests Brawl is not quite worth 69% on COD4, if it's getting any SFF at all here. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Fusion stands out in those stats. no way does it lose to Perfect Dark. Brawl looks like the stronger of the two games based on this. you'd have to call SFF to think otherwise, I think. --- xyzzy |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/9/2010 11:29:47 AM | message detail |
From: transience | #408 Well, if you think CoD > D/P/P still, then PD > Fusion is the next natural step. --- http://i43.tinypic.com/dgwh0.gif http://www.majhost.com/gallery/atukam/OHWD/snownd.gif |
KamikazePotato | Posted 12/9/2010 11:31:49 AM | message detail |
What's wrong with Fusion losing to Perfect Dark? There's probably a little SFF here. Not that much. This result is that surprising considering CoD4 smushed DPP last year. --- DFF |

was there SFF in Galaxy/RSE? or Galaxy/DPP last year? or any Pokemon/Nintendo matchup in the last couple years? I would pick Fusion every day of the week over Perfect Dark. --- xyzzy |
KamikazePotato | Posted 12/9/2010 11:45:36 AM | message detail |
No, because Galaxy sucks. This is nothing new! I said 'a little' SFF, and that's what's here. Probably not more than 1-2%. And I have no idea why you continuously try to underrate Perfect Dark. It's only bad match ever is last year, and that wasn't exactly the fairest situation. --- DFF |
transience | Posted 12/9/2010 11:47:58 AM | message detail |
more like I don't know why you'd underestimate Fusion. eh, we'll see next round. (not really, these stats won't matter much) --- xyzzy |

KamikazePotato | Posted 12/9/2010 11:53:02 AM | message detail |
I
don't think I'm underestimating Fusion. The last few results we've seen
line up pretty well with that CoD4/Galaxy/DPP fourpack we saw last
year. And that's before you take time zones into account; give Brawl a
night match and Melee a day match and these results get flipped. Basically, Galaxy still sucks and TP is going to molest it. --- DFF |

I think everyone was underestimating Fusion before the contest! I don't really expect a big SFF split between Melee/Brawl though. Same with KH1/KH2 tomorrow. --- http://i43.tinypic.com/dgwh0.gif http://www.majhost.com/gallery/atukam/OHWD/snownd.gif |

excusing this via a day/night match doesn't work. all four of these games are very day-heavy. Fusion is one of the biggest GBA games. there are three (or four) depending on how you look at it: Fusion, RSE, Golden Sun and FFTA. Golden Sun and RSE have done well. I'd be surprised if Fusion did poorly after those two looked so good. --- xyzzy |

have to side with Brawl being more impressive this round. CoD is
loathed here, failing to score 70% on it when you're supposedly the

From: vcharon | #424 It's a very good showing from Brawl, but high-60s was kind of expected, was it not? All in all, I think this is a blow to that growing theory that Pokemon cannot get SFF'd or truly godstomped. It may be a difficult entrant to cream when you've got things like Pikachu and Charizard up there - entrants that convey massive nostalgia and pluck at the heartstrings. But this new Pokemon crap - I can't see why it would be immune from beatings, especially when it's rocking such a weak picture up there. What percentage of voters even know that Pokemon's name? The series doesn't draw its strength from crap like that. --- Yoblazer: http://8board.webs.com/ariel.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |

From: PartOfYourWorld | #430 Still, the name "Pokemon" is on it. That was enough for this game to beat two other Nintendo games it probably should not have beaten. I don't really think TP is that far off from Melee or Brawl (clearly
weaker, don't get me wrong, but not by a lot), and after seeing what

I would be interested in seeing RBY vs. RSE just to make sure of that theory. Can Pokemon gain the SF advantage on other stuff, though? No, don't point to RBY/Zelda:MM/PD/BK last year! It could more be the fact that it was a GB game against three N64 games... I'm not sure if Pokemon GSC/Mario Kart Wii had SFF, though...
