There weren't any stats for Golden Sun/San Andreas. The best you could go buy was comparing UYA and Dead Space, and setting them equal basically you gave the exact results of the match.

There wasn't much in the way of stats for Golden Sun the game......but there was plenty in stats for Golden Sun characters being underrated going back to 2003.

Isaac/Samus (A possible SFF match too, not to mention Link/Samus SFF!)

Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest.

I caught the last 10 minutes or so of MGS2/SotC... it doesn't get much more shady than that, but ah well. It was still a really fun match, from what I saw - definitely a better way to lose two points than, say, a boring match like GS/SA!

As for this match: it looks to me like the Majora/Pokemon G/S/C saga is going to turn out like Jill/Ocelot. Hopefully I'm proven wrong - G/S/C is an awesome game that deserves to go far.

Just got home...and holy **** at that last hour for the last match. Wow!

So SotC actually wins. I did not see this one coming whatsoever.

Well, I'm not backing MM or anything. GSC has always had that match, and still does.

I have no idea how anyone can be all that confident in Pokemon beating *Zelda* game on ZeldaFAQs.

I'd peg it as a slight favorite over MM...but really, there's no reason people should be too sure about that.

In seriousness, just don't bank until KH/KH2. None of the other matches are really in doubt. Oblivion is going to win pretty simply, and so is Halo.

I'd be very surprised if Halo lost, but I'm concerned about Oblivion. Paper Mario has been pretty impressive, and might benefit very slightly from the day match. I think that match will be close either way.

One thing is certain for TheOneAboveAll - if you bank on TTYD vs. Oblivion, you will not win. But that match could go either way.

Uh, intuitively Symphonia beats both Paper Mario games very, very easily.

Why? I agree with red sox here. I'd take PM1>ToS - not that I'd be too confident about it, but that's what I'd expect at this point. PM2 I don't know, but it shouldn't be too far from PM1.

Perhaps he means that GSC looked stronger than MM last year and GSC has received an enhanced remake since then, but MM will defeat it anyways.

This is quite poor from MM. Feeling much better about GSC. at least until it inevitably goes and gets mid-60s on a game that struggled with Phoenix Wright, and we can logically analyse FFIX > GSC!

I think Paper Mario has a much better chance against Oblivion than most are giving it. The two of them have 60-40'd Gears of War and World of Warcraft, while Oblivion got 62.45% on Soulcalibur 2, which was outright beaten by Gears of War 2 in the vote-ins. Also, it's a Nintendo-Mario RPG in a day match. On top of that, it's the last match in round two!

The Soul Calibur / Gears comparison is a fair point, but no one should ever use WoW to say anything about that match. 4-way WoW was a whole different beast than 1v1 WoW. Still, I don't feel like taking the vote-ins seriously there, and I just can't see Oblivion losing that match. I dunno, TTYD>Oblivion just doesn't feel right.

Having both Paper Mario games going to Round 3 would redeem any horrible result this contest would have.

Of course, I can't see anything horrible happening, because whichever game wins out of Smash, Melee, FFX, and GSC will deserve it. This contest has really been great.

That said, I love Oblivion too, as it was pretty much my gateway into wRPGs, so I'll be happy with whatever wins.

BTW if you hold FFXII equal to its last year's self, Portal is on Mario 3's level. Real funny, I know.

I honestly still think MGS2 is stronger than SotC and would've won in both a night match and a 24-hour match, it just got unlucky here. This removes any chance MGS2 has at Prime or Galaxy though (however last year's stats have SotC > Galaxy, but who cares about those?).

I think I'm leaning TTYD here. I understand the reasoning to say that WoW should be stronger in 4-ways than 1v1 but I still think that it should be pretty strong. Animal crossing was decently popular and had joke potential too. And SCII (and SC in general) seem to have gotten weaker over the years. And it's a day match. And it's Mario. I think TTYD pulls it out if it's close, but I also think this has the potential to be a 53-55% win for Oblivion.

Interesting, Chrono Cross is only doing about 2% worse in Europe. I don't think this is because of Chrono Cross not being released in Europe, but because Dragon Quest VIII was a huge beast in Europe.

Nope, I believe in stats over intuition 95% of the time. Just pointing out that I don't like the Tales of Symphonia intuition argument against TTYD.

In fact, for this contest, red sox has gone well above the 95%-mark for not using intuition. What else do you expect though: Chrono Trigger DS was snubbed.....

That's the benefit of being able to adjust your bracket mid-contest. Apparently, a lot of people were impressed by SOTC matching MGS2's percentage on The Sims.

Everyone that follows the contest figured MGS2 would win, based on past contests. All the casuals took SotC because it was the 2 seed.

Analysis

I don’t know why some people were so hard on Pokemon last round, sure we thought it would get 75%, but it isn’t like the game was that far off the mark and besides we have no information on Advance Wars other than the game would be weak which Pokemon demonstrated. As for Mario Kart Wii I was pretty disappointed in its performance. I know no one cares about the Wii, but to a lot of people Mario Kart Wii was the last decent Wii game before people began turning on the console.

Pokemon shouldn’t have much problem crushing this match Phoenix Wright has never looked good in a match and even if you want to salvage what it did against Twilight Princess by saying the game SFF Phoenix Wright somehow Pokemon would probably have still crushed it. It feels weird that Mario Kart Wii is so week, but like New Super Mario Bros. Wii it seems that the fans don’t care much for the lesser Wii games. Then again Marvel vs. Capcom 2 put a decent performance against Metal Gear Solid 3 a few matches ago so maybe we shouldn’t be as gloomed about Mario Kart Wii.

I see Pokemon reaching into the high 60s and should Phoenix Wright be the same game that we saw in the previous contest I wouldn’t even be surprised if it broke 70%. This division is pretty competitive and if Pokemon can’t get it together I see a lot of people turning on it and with the Metal Gear Solid games not looking as solid compare to last year it seem that the winner of this division should be able to win over the winning Metal Gear Solid.

Anyone else think Mario Kart DS is stronger than Mario Kart Wii? MKDS was pretty big five years ago; it even finished second in GotY polling, beating God of War and serving as first sacrificial lamb to RE4. Pokemon could go sky high and I wouldn't be surprised here; look at what Brawl did to MKDS.
