surprised I haven't seen more people talking about having 70,000+

support my theory that platformers in general really suck ass in these

Okay,
I wasn't convinced (I WAS open about it) that MGS games have fallen
until MGS4's low score yesterday. I mean, Diablo struggled to beat Halo
previously. MGS3 looked fine, though. I wasn't sure what to make of
MGS2 vs. B-T... it wasn't very impressive, but after Perfect Dark's
good showing (helping BK's, and thus Tooie's case) I had to give it the
benefit of the doubt. So much for that thought. Do you guys think MGS3 vs. MGS4 will be a nailbiter? That's how it seems at this point. Oh, and the battle challenge...yikes! If only I had seen MGS4's percentage before this match I definitely would have banked. Even if I lose, I -should- still be ahead of SBAllen, though. Also, I am wondering... on a Saturday second-half match are there particular hours that are more "day" or "ASV"-like? --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

I already posted it during the Persona / Dead Rising match but I'll just repeat it here: Why are the good matches always day matches? i watched Persona 4 march onto victory up until around 1 1/2 before the

battle points on the line. I thought there were a good number of them... I've got 86,100 on the line! But really, if MGS2 loses this I deserve to lose my points. This was definitely a possible upset according to the stats after Round 1, but I refused to consider it and went with "common sense" that Metal Gear Solid 2 wouldn't lose here. I think I even said to someone that I'm not sure I'd take Metal Gear Solid on Game Boy Color to lose here. Yeeeeah. I'm just glad I got on the leaderboard, no matter how fleetingly, and will hope MGS2 pulls through. |

popularity contests.... The old Mario games surely don't suck ass in these contests, but you know a reason might be because you don't need mu help in platformers. Well, this makes Melee look absolutely terrible. MGS2 got what, 46% on SSBM? My, how times have changed! It was closer to 43% actually, but the new games back then were just crazy close to each other in strength. The craziest thing compared to today's standards is how Soul Calibur nearly took out Kingdom Hearts.... and SC also was a slight favorite. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. with how decent Halo's looked this contest, that may not be so bad in
hindsight! That round 2 match was just weird. Something wasn't right. Makes KOTOR look better, too. Very true. Additionally, GTA3 looked good this year, at least compared to the other GTA games, also helping the case that Halo/Diablo/GTA3/KOTOR 4-pack may have been under-rated. Also, I have to say it since I wasn't around last night... EX FRIGGIN' DEE at Paper Mario's prediction percentage this round. It's even possible that World of Warcraft had the highest PP of ANY game this round. Well, probably not quite. At the very least, WoW exceeded 75%, though. I mean, I'm still perplexed at how Twilight Princess was losing to Dragon Age or something by 32% of the brackets. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" Fact/Fiction: Shadow of the Colossus will have a lower prediction percentage to make Round 3 than Paper Mario. I'm kind of leaning toward Fiction for that one, actually. --- Wylvane Ainoxi is a horrible user. |

if SotC pulls through I'll be back in the battle bracket. I banked
during Golden Sun/San Andreas so I'm now getting way behind, but if
everyone at the top gets the match wrong I'm back in the 20s minus the

Also,
from my Odds to Win topic, MGS2 was given an 85.38% chance to beat
SotC. That's an even bigger upset than Deus Ex > Rock Band 2 by a
couple of points. Going through the topic again, this will be the first upset of Round 2 in terms of my topic. Every other match the favorite one, including matches such as Golden Sun/GTA:SA. Not bad, guys. --- Wylvane Calvinball is a horrible user. |

Sephiroth
wouldn't have won in night or 24-hours. He'd probably have done best in
a 24-hour match, followed by a night match, followed by the day match
he got. This seems counterintuitive, but the reason is that Sephiroth's
early vote is so bad (and the difference between his day and night
fairly small) he'll do better in the 2nd 12 hours than the first 12
hours, no matter which 12-hour segment is the first. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |
