Could all the recent Cataclysm ads actually have worked against WoW here? I can imagine all the anti-WoW folks seeing the ads and thinking "Another xpac?? OMG, just DIE already!"

Probably, but I doubt it. If you don't like WoW, I don't think that's going to change or become "more potent" because of an ad. If Blizzard cared enough to rally like certain other companies, I'm sure WoW could be a force here. At the end of the day WoW isn't popular here, and the players/Blizzard really don't care.

Wow, those pics really make you think. I mean, if you had never heard of Zelda or Assassin's Creed (I know, quite the hypothetical world) and were choosing a game based on those two pics, is there anyone over 12 who wouldn't choose to play AC2?

And you guys really think that the prediction percentages are gonna that low? Like below 10%?? I mean, I'm basically just a casual and I still realize this is way too much of NintendoFAQs for even one of the most played games of all time to stand a chance. I mean hours played, btw, not number of players.

30% had TTYD beating Gears 1. 92% had WoW winning round 1, one of the highest of round 1.

Paper Mario 1 should have more bracket support than the sequel game, I would think. Animal Crossing is one of the most fodderish Nintendo games there is, comparing it to something with Mario in the title isn't really fair.

It'll be "low" surely, but not absurdly low.

Mario Kart facing the wrong way, and dammit that GSC pic was supposed to be saved for round 3 :'(

Can't complain though about it getting picked. Took me 3 hours to make it, and I flat-out told Allen I'd be really upset if it wasn't used after all that. Took half a night with CS3 and The Count of Tuscany on Repeat, but I love the final result there.

66% and rising. And yes, that's unusual. I don't think it's guaranteed that Oblivion would do that well against it.

This is a much bigger beating than Oblivion gave WoW. Granted, WoW is poised to do worse in this format and time frame (and this PM is likely stronger than the other), but I'll be keeping my eye on Mario/Oblivion for sure. A struggle wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I remember AC being really popular when in first came out. The later iterations were more of the same, but people have a lot of fond memories of the first one.

I dunno. Animal Crossing just felt like "Flavor of the month" to me, but then again, it's not really my kind of game. It's fun for a little bit, but I don't really look back on it with a lot of nostalgia.

But I'm kind of down on Oblivion at the moment, so I'm not really sure it'd rock Animal Crossing with 70% or anything.

oh AC characters are stupid as hell and shouldn't be strong at all, I agree. people should antivote the hell out of them if they know what's up.

but still, those guys are super weak and every contest poll makes them look bad. it's not even close to a GameFAQs kinda game with the one exception that it's Nintendo. the newest game lost to Wii Fit in the Wii GOTY. that series is weak.

It doesn't have to 'make waves'. It just has to not be horrible. I don't think you quite get how bad Oblivion getting 70% on it would be. Oblivion isn't that strong.
