This match probably isn't going to be much help in figuring out how P4 vs DR would go is it? I mean if this was Dead Rising vs Final Fantasy IX what would it look like right now?

Not a clue. But DR probably has a better ASV than both these games anyway.

Course, I also don't see DR pulling 30% on FF9, but that's just me.

I dunno. There's probably some, but considering hos vastly different these two games are in setting, mood, gameplay, and even popularity (one is far more mainstream than the other), I wouldn't be surprised is the P3 fans continue to vote for P3, regardless.

There might be a really tiny amount of JRPG SFF going on, but I don't think it amounts to much. The main reason I hope Persona 4 beats Dead Rising is so my two favorite games can at least lose to amazing games. There's no shame in losing to games like FFIX and RE4

I'm going to guess 'hells no,' considering Freeman occaisionally defeats someone in the character contests and I had to look up Carl Johnson just now.

I mean, really, FFIX is coasting on franchise power alone, so this could have been much worse.

This can be said about pretty much most popular games. Any FF game, Resident Evil, Zelda, Mario, etc etc.

I should be noted, however, that the strongest games in these contests are still good games, regardless of how much they pull from their franchise name.

I'm thinking that if you specifically titled the poll something like 'Link vs. the West' that he'd only get maybe 40%, just because voters would be more self-conscious about acting like fanboys. However, if you just threw that poll up with no explanation, I think he'd easily get 60%.

Peach would probably double Carl Johnson.

It makes me believe P3 is the stronger of the two games.

I think P4 is probably stronger, since it sold better (than P3 and FES combined) and I think most fans prefer it.

The "14-17" option had 16.14% at 2:28 PM, and that was the last update prior to the start of the ASV where 14-17 did not lose any percentage. Once the ASV started, 14-17's percentage increased on every single update from 2:33 PM to 8:45 PM.

Not quite sure what to make of this match. I was hoping FFIX could get above 72% so I'd be comfortable going with Dead Rising, but I think it's getting what it was expected to get. Oh well...still sticking with Dead Rising.

Persona 4 is absolutely stronger than 3. There is literally no reason for 3 to be stronger.

You could make the "first" argument, but I'm not sure how that holds up. I think the fact that P4 is a 4 seed and P3 is a 7 seed is telling of the fanbase heirarchy, and 4 has a higher playrate. Also Ulti I know you said 4 came out at a bad time for the PS2... But so did 3. Hell if anything 4's timing was better as it's almost universally accepted as the last great PS2 game.

Just for the record, I think seeding is a good way to determine which of a series is stronger with a few exceptions. The farther the gap the better.
