I'm not suggesting that 71% on Morrowind rules Melee out or anything stupid like that - just that this, unlike it's sky-high figure in round one - leaves the door open to Brawl and FFX to put in something as impressive.

Not that I mind Melee beefing it, since I have Brawl anyway.

Still don't think Melee is doing that bad. You guys are more underestimating Morrowind, if anything. The other Bethesda games have decent strength here.

Menji76 is a horrible user.

The problem is that you guys were way too hard on FFX during its first match. It was never "out of it". Melee happened to draw massive fodder in round 1 and you all overreacted and called the contest over.

80% was a dumb idea. This is still pretty good, though more big drops in percentage like that will make it look much more fallible. FFX had a great shot to beat SSBM last year in a fair match anyway (MGS2 says removing KH puts FFX just barely under SSBM, and who knows if Diablo 2 hurt it too). I expected a bigger blow-out, granted, but SSBM/FFX should still be rather even.

SSBB may keep it from happening though. We'll see.

Melee is ripe for a 6-7% drop from the board vote against an Xbox RPG. If it was at 81-82% at the freeze, that would settle it around 74-75%, which would be about what I expected.

Why are you still trying to predict trends? For the love of god why?

The big deal is that we may see GSC > Brawl rather than GSC > Melee.

Based on the updates I'm seeing already, it doesn't seem like Melee is going to be dropping 6-7% from the board vote. Probably would be closer to 3-4% instead. Last round, Melee dropped almost 3% from the board vote to the end of the match, but that was against GH2 and Melee started around 90% at the board vote.

Popular at school, but not as cool as Dr_Football, Guru Champ!

Man, I'd be worried about Melee being completely terrible in Europe, but FFX couldn't dominate Viewtiful Joe overnight. Melee can easily ride the board vote and then tread water (see: Zelda/FF) until sunrise in the US.

Based on the inherently large margin of error for 4-ways, I think anything within a couple points plus or minus what FFX did on Morrowind wouldn't tell us too much.


Because I have Melee winning it all, of course.

Man, I definitely wasn't expecting Melee to be going up at this point! I guess this board loves Morrowind all of a sudden. >_>

On the off chance Melee ends up below 70%, yeah, I'll be pretty disappointed. But all in all, this is shaping up to be a pretty solid victory.

Melee is going to get reamed overnight by FFX thanks to Europe. There's very little better than FFX or worse than Melee in those late night hours, most of which are pretty obscure games like Monkey Island and Oregon Trail. Even Chrono Trigger does better in the deep night than Melee (notice Magus continued gaining on Sandbag all the way until morning), and it wasn't released in Europe.

Like red said earlier, Melee didn't really start dropping a bit until 2am against GH2. It'll probably be fairly steady for a while.

Oh Melee's going to lose a lot of votes overnight, obviously. But just like in Zelda/FF, FFX can't just rip Melee's lead to shreds, it needs to put a big gap between it and Melee, otherwise the moment the sun rises FFX's gonna get buried.

Morrowind is probably near equal to DMC3, that one could go either way and would be an interesting match probably. Deus Ex obviously much weaker.

This is not a bad performance, people are either expecting too much out of Melee or complete disrespect Morrowind.

Both GTA3 and to a lesser extent LBP have decent bracket support while GoW only had to go against mild support from ToS/RE5.

Melee's still holding up pretty well. Still about 1% above FFX's final mark as of the end of the power hour, and in a full 24-hour match, Melee usually ends up at or a little above its power hour mark unless it's going something with a bad power hour.

I'm surprised Allen has the same bracket score as me (71). That's top 1.5% or so. Since when did Bacon learn how to make a proper bracket? I guess he's learned some stuff over the years.

Wow, the casuals are getting trashed in R2. Less than 80% figured either of the 1-seeds would advance (they were both 90%+ R1) and all the other matches are below 60%. 30% are smoking something, what was Prime losing to exactly in R2?

Well, I would imagine if you have seen every poll result and make the brackets yourself, you'd have to have some knowledge about how the contests go. Not a lot (lol ffx) but enough!

2 AM was 72.83%, so by this theory we should be somewhere between 72-74%

Of course I was playing it wrong I didn't care too much for it anyway and cats were cool but it made the game a bit easy.

And this is a good perfermance by melée. It's going to underperform at night since Europe doesn't care about nintendo as much. Brawl gets day matches to look more impressive.

Yeah, Melee has only got 60% in Europe right now, that's pathetic. Brawl wouldn't be doing much better (if not worse, the Wii is non-existent here), but it has day matches to look better in, so their performances can't really be compared without serious adjustment.

The Wii is only big in UK but because of Wii Fit,Wii sports and Just Dance.So yeah...

And after checking some numbers.

While Just Dance is a big seller in Europe, Mario Kart Wii absolutely dwarfs it in sales, Galaxy sold better, and Brawl sold much the same. Wii Fit is a much better choice than Just Dance but Mario Kart Wii still outsold it.

The point is, big name Nintendo games are still huge here. There's still a really high demand for Galaxy and Brawl even after 2/3 years, and there's few games that have really done that much worse than in the US sales-wise.
